I will always remember Wil Wheaton telling that every ttrpg group has one player that will always derail whatever you're trying to do, accept this 😁

In my case: I told my players that my upcoming campaign will be dark fantasy with an early medieval sort of aesthetic - muddy, moody and full of scary monsters. Most of them immediately went to create characters that fit the theme.

One of them got back to me and said he'll be a blond orc millionaire named Barnaby Moneybags

As though i needed yet another hint that my period is on the way (i don't, my body is making it so crystal clear already), i put my house cleaning hype playlist on and broke down sobbing at the first song because it's on a tragic d&d npc's playlist (i inflicted most of the tragedy and have been Brooding about it lately) and couldn't start cleaning until i recovered.

Did some 'way far in the future' dming prep today, and experienced both extremes of how that can go: banged out like 3 pages of single-spaced notes that may not even be relevant when the event itself comes around, including some possible permutations about how things might go differently depending on factors and things; and then i also sat for 10+ minutes staring into the middle distance considering a problem and eventually deciding it'll be better solved by Future Me...

Had the classic dm experience this evening of mulling over my Plots And Schemes while showering, and had an earth-shattering revelation that connecting two dots solves some Story Problems i've been having, and also the two dots were wildly obvious to connect in hindsight and i'm not sure how i didn't arrive at this conclusion sooner?? Previous me was apparently channeling this energy:
