against my better judgment I'm becoming entranced by video essays that claim to be talking about really pervasive pressing issues that are everywhere 😱 that turn out to be about some shit you've never heard of in your life if you're not on tiktok or insta
and it's like. it's not that I don't think it's worthwhile to critically examine niche subcommunity issues. the analysis can be incredibly thought and insightful! but I do also feel that lending too much credence to things that bother you in internet bubbles can turn you into, like, the person On Here who sincerely told me that I was being naive for believing that tiktok romances aren't causing complete downfall of the entire publishing industry
"everyone is reading the same books and wearing the same clothes and buying whatever the algorithm tells them to buy, personal taste is dead!" I think maybe you need to like. talk to some people on the bus.
"Everyone I know is doing X"
Buddy, that's not a statistically valid random sample of humanity.
how to get out of your own way
we’re gonna be ok btw
it’s ok if you’re scared. or tired. or unsure. or one million billion other complicated emotions at once. but i’ve decided things are going to be ok anyway. and i will hold that belief close to my heart no matter how scared or tired or lonely or depressed or one million billion other things i am. i will hold onto that. and if you’re scared, you can hold onto me. we can carry each other through
Bear religion probably fucking rocks. You're a fucking bear, you're the deadliest thing on earth, once a year an endless supply of salmon just flings itself up the river to gorge on and then you nap for 3 months.
The most delicious food in the world is protected by tiny demons who can defend it from everyone except you. Your natural armor is thick enough that you can just eat the damn hive while they buzz around you. God's chosen animals right there
Regular bears tell stories of angel bears sent by the Bear God, pure white and twice as strong as any normal bear could be, who rule the summit of the Earth and kill all who stand in their path.
And they are right, those bears exist and totally do that. Humans just have fake angels as a cope.
love the idea of bears being the chosen species actually. having a near death experience and glimpsing heaven and realising it's just full of bears, no humans at all, humans not ensouled actually, humans an accidental byproduct of God's plan for bears
Be the man in short shorts you want to see in the world

I will forever maintain that genuine fortune-telling and psychic medium junk is a load of bull, but as a person who owns tarot decks and regularly uses them as a tool for self-reflection I also have to admit that it does kind of work for that and it's very very funny when it does
Once I laid out some cards before I left the house and couldn't figure out an interpretation of the symbolism that made sense outside of "stop focusing and pay attention", which was of course absurd, so I was puzzling over that all the way to my bus stop and was so distracted the whole time that I walked face-first into a massive fucking spiderweb
It always hits so good
i'm not 26 years old rather i'm eight months in recovery from my old therapy group telling me that hating people is a way of continuing to have a relationship with them
My body is trying really hard to shut down in order to recoup from yesterday's enormous energy expenditure, but i am trying my best to muscle through the shutdown urge in order to do my laundry and dishes and do a big DMing overview to settle my anxieties down about pacing and the Amount of story left.
Surely there will be no consequences for putting this resting off...
To put it very bluntly.
You will always make a better impact helping people who need it than trying to hurt people you think deserve it.
I hate that when you’re stressed enough your body just starts falling apart. I think it should realize you’re already stressed and don’t need that and start functioning better actually

I love it when people use "shrimp" to mean "beyond the human range". like "shrimp colors" but applied to other things. "shrimp emotions" "shrimp sounds" "shrimp morality", as if shrimp are living some kind of transcendent existence that humans can never comprehend
