Truly warms my heart when a DM presents players with an innocent kid who is also a McGuffin destined to serve the needs of the BBEG and the most expedient way to save the world is for the kid to die, and players go to dangerous, life-threatening extremes to avoid doing that. Not that I'm speaking from experience, or that I did that to players one time, and the outcome was hilariously similar. It's just. Nice. 🥲

New DM Problems #18

I WANT TO PLAY ALL THE GAMES. THIRSTY SWORD LESBIANS? I'M DOWN.

So I’m running a murder mystery in my D&D campaign and one of my players just randomly walked up to me and correctly guessed who the culprit was after just one session. He hadn’t spent much time with that NPC and he hadn’t seen many hints yet, so there was no way he should have known yet. He then clarified in a perfectly serious tone:

“It came to me in a dream.”

None of the guides I read prepared me for this.

curse of strahd DMs:

your players WILL adopt victor. he can insult them, admit to two murders and agree to cover up a third, mention cursing a man into insanity, and generally sulk, and it will not matter. they will adopt him. you cannot escape.

I'm running Curse of Strahd for my friends soon, it'll be the second time I run the module, and I've read Strahd's Ravenloft novel and both Lord Soth novels.

And I'm 100% going to be a total nerd about the lore and make my players deal with both the silly death knight and the silly vampire.

Knowing my luck, it'll be less gothic novel and more scooby-doo episode.
