i got a METHOD for making npcs

me getting excited about the nitty gritty of 10+ cities in my world vs it being midnight and me working at 6:30 am

So yesterday’s DnD session made me realise that I plan too much for session.

The only parts from my plan that I used, was the introduction and the conclusion

The rest was improv

Because of shit dice rolls and the group going ‘ehhhhhhh how about playing cards with the god?’

It was fun as hell, and chaotic (that seems to be the general vibe for each session) but stressfullll

(On a side note: now need to write a character sheet for a character I had to make up on the spot because she might be a recurring character now. Lord help me)

That moment when you want to rant about planning for DnD sessions (as the dm) and about fuckups made during the campaigns etc

Then you remember that some of your players follow you so you just.. act like it never happened.

Me: *looking at a minor villain who I want to be a recurring character in the story*

Me: my stubborn ass party will try to kill this fucker, won’t they

Me: *sighs and makes him at least a few levels higher because.. him v 3-5 players*

Look, look. I am not proud of many of my stupid moments as a DM. 

However. HOWEVER! Making a lava/volcano genasi woman crime boss that breaths out ash clouds and has lava cracks break out(including sounds) when she gets angry and all my players being too terified to look her in the eyes was fucking brilliant!
