One of the things the triggered me to look up Nephilim even more was the fact that Vergil said, in his history lesson for Dante, is that:

"...according to legend, only a Nephilim can slay a demon king..."

Now legends and folklore are all symbolic and metaphorical but of course it's like rooted to some truth.

So yes that legend is saying that Nephilim are strong enough the defeat the most powerful entities to exist. But that would mean it had happened right?

That means that 9000 plus years ago there was another powerful entity, a demon overlord, who was defeated by a Nephilim. And many had witnessed this and perhaps may have led to the fear and eradication of the Nephilim by both angels and demons.

I am just going off from what Vergil said. He looked this up and read the history of the Nephilim, had found folklore about this. Who was that Nephilim? Is it Assiel, the first Nephilim according to Phineas? And perhaps who was Mundus' predecessor? Did he learn from that previous monarch's mistake and had ordered to hunt down the Nephilim that existed?

With those in mind, the fact there were Nephilim DURING even the height of the war between Heaven and Hell means that Sparda and Eva's case wasn't unique at all. If anything, it shows that they're tired of this war.
