Stop Motion Conclusion
Straight away our group got on incredibly well and we all had a similar direction that we wanted to go in. We all collaborated really well and had so many ideas then we limited it down to a comedy/horror, a horror that was so low budget and dodgy and lame that it was funny. We had so much fun thinking of comedy elements, and I have to say we were in hysterics just discussing it. We had a few possibilities of how we could incorporate the gum, but in the end we decided that the gum would be the one "scary" thing that our main character would react too and inevitably end out character. Tess did such an amazing job on the set, she made a character out of wire that could have an interchangeable head- we all loved this because it meant we could easily change its expression. We had so much fun choosing the music and Nicks idea for the Knight Rider theme when our character is seemingly driving a car (which is later seen to be a horse) was fantastic! To add to the horror theme I remembered that I had some little lights that were different colours and that was perfect for the "car" headlights and the red and green scary mood lighting. Lauren took the photos for the animation and also did an amazing job on the editing. We all contributed to the music selection and I think the music we chose was perfect, it was hilarious when we sped up the dramatic music and the crickets, and Lauren worked tirelessly to cut different sections of the music for it to flow nicely. We thought it might be clever to instead of having dialogue spoken we have the old fashioned silent movie dialogue screens. Nick took this on and made an amazing title card - the skull looked awesome! We were torn between 2 titles for our animation, "Into the Foam" as our set was made from foam, or "The Ante Room" as we filmed it in an ante room. We chose the latter because we thought it had a bit of a creepy vibe to it, and it was a bit of an inside joke too. I think the story line came across pretty well, especially given the expressions on our wire guy, I still find the unimpressed face hilarious and the crickets sound effect made it even better. In all honesty when we presented it to the class I don't know if anybody else found ours as hilarious as we did, but we know it was hilarious!!! If we could do it again I don't think there is anything we would change, I am so happy with the end result and I absolutely loved the group I was in, we all got along so well and each contributed to the project.
