Slightly Obscure D&D Character Questions (4)
Thank you for the tags @lilhumanoid and @spillingteanotpermitted <3 Passing on the no-pressure tag to @missfortunetherogue, @riddlerosehearts, @izumiphoenix, and @lottavilja with questions 7, 35, 57 and/or any you want to answer Question list by @\notetakers-blog-of-holding is HERE
6. How does your character express that they're uncomfortable?
Tav will switch to 'manipulation mode'. If they're uncomfortable they will probably get quieter than usual, and look a bit more... shrewd? Like, it's going to be more visible that they are analysing everybody to try and stay in control of the situation. They try to give off "don't mess with me" vibes.
If he cannot get away from being uncomfortable, more often then not Storm's primary response will be freeze. Followed by fight if things become unbearable, lol, and then pray for your life. If Tav is around, they would probably immediately clock the freeze response, even if it's not necessarily very visible since he's quiet anyway, and help him regulate before he gets to the fight stage.
11. How does your character blow off steam?
Answered here :3
12. Physically, does your character feel warm or do they always feel cold?
Tav can have cold hands easily, especially if staying at home and not doing much. Which is funny because since I mostly write about them from Astarion's pov, that does not compute xD They're warm to him lol.
Storm is almost always warm. Swimming in cold water everyday is great for circulation, or so I hear, and he naturally runs warm anyway haha
23. Would your character want to be famous? Why or why not?
When they were younger Tav might have fantasised about being a famous bard x) That is not something they ant, anymore, because it was a desire resulting from chasing the highs of their mood. They like attention from a crowd, haha, and that made them feel good in most circumstances, so they thought being famous meant they would get more of that, and that would stave off the depression. When they realise that it's not the case, they let go of that desire fairly easily.
Storm wants nothing less than being famous. Being perceived everywhere he goes without being able to go away would his number one personnal nightmare scenario xDD
25. How does your character feel about spending money?
Tav is an over spender. I've talked about this here, but yeah, Tav likes to buy pretty things, and is really bad with money management.
Storm on the other hand, tends to not spend money at all. He's not a material person, and will only buy things out of absolute necessity. It's not that he feels bad about spending money, but he doesn't see the point of buying unecessary things. The one exception to that in his life has been the one time he bought back his horse, River, from the farmer she had been sold to when he arrived to Baldur's Gate.
31. Can your character visualize actual concepts in their head? Or are they just vague thoughts?
Tav is very good with mind visualisation. They think both in words and images very well, and a lifetime of building illusions to enhance storytelling made them able to visually imagine pretty much anything.
Storm on the other hand, has a lot of thoughts, but it's all very chaotic, and not overly visual (unless murderous thoughts, in which case it can be vivid). A big part of this is brain damage, but even before, he was mostly not thinking in terms of images much.
32. Does your character daydream? What do they usually keep their mind occupied with?
Tav daydreams a lot when they have free time. In the circumstances of the tadpole journey, they mostly use their daydreaming time to plan ahead as much as they can, but they have also definitely been guilty of daydreaming about their godmother somehow finding them and making all the problems go away. (They tried to contact her very early, in the hopes she could do something, but the tadpole is blocking sending spells in my headcanons. No talking with archfey allowed.)
Storm avoids daydreaming because that ends badly (plays scene where he almost cut Gale's hand). If he looks like he's daydreaming, he's probably just dissociating. Which for him is more or less the same things anyway, but if he loses himself in his brain he tries to not think about stuff much (which is hard). Usually he will do that only if he's alone and not at risk of hurting people.
43. Is your character good at apologizing? Why or why not?
Tav needs to cool down before they can apologise for something they did, but they will always do it. Just give them time. Depending on their state of mind, it will take more or less time for them to compute that they need to apologise for something, but if they know something they did was hurtful or inappropriate they will definitely apologise. After freaking out during Gale's weave lesson, for example, they did apologise to him because they over reacted a bit, and they wanted to make sure his feelings weren't too hurt.
Storm will apologise immediately, and much too often. "I'm sorry" is his most used sentence. That's mostly because he feels like he should apoogise for existing, sometimes. (and now I'm on my way to write Tav giving him all the hugs because that makes me sad)
66. Outward Passion or Quiet Rebellion?
Yet another one where Storm and Tav are complete opposite, I love this haha
Tav is very open with things they are passionate about, one way or another. If they like something, you will know it in every detail, if they don't like something, you will also know it in every detail. The exception to that, I guess, is when people that they love are hurting them, which is one thing they tend to bottle up and not express very passionately. But if you're not on of their close ones, they will not take your shit.
On the contrary, Storm will tend to be very open if someone he cares about does something he doesn't like. Not in a passionate way, though, just in a 'please don't do that again?' kind of way. His natural tendency will be towards quiet rebellion. Or rebellious compliance, more like. Bhaal was like : I want death. Storm said : you will have death. Until there can be no more and this finally ends. Which I do consider to be quiet rebellion x) in a way. Also, killing in a way that would deliberately anger Bhaal (aka, no blood spilling, the lightning is doing the job thank you, and fuck you very much).

3. How would your PC describe themselves? Depends on his mood and who he's talking to. At his kindest to a friend, probably as someone who is trying to learn to be better than he has been. At his worst to an enemy, someone who is painfully aware of two things: 1) exactly how much a person can live through, 2) how willing he is to inflict those things on someone else. 5. What is your PC’s idle animation? Probably very purposeful fidgeting that's a bit too calculated to actually seem like disinterest. Examining the joints of his prosthetic ect. 14. How does your PC feel about white lies? Hypocritically hates when people lie to him, especially for the purposes of sparing his feelings - would rather be told he's not allowed to know something. As for himself - white lies are the nicer ones he gets to tell as part of the job.
22. What is your PC’s #1 personality strength? See I'm torn on this, and I know it says #1 but I need to give two answers: - 1) for purposes of what I like most about him - he cares, deeply, and even though that hasn't prevented him from making sacrifices in the past he always does so with full awareness. - 2) from a more practical point of view - he's logical and analytical. He thinks through multiple scenarios and tends to be pretty pragmatic when it comes to planning for different jobs. 23. What is your PC’s #1 personality flaw? I'm a big fan of strengths being the characters weakness so tbh its the same as above but taken to their extremes. He cares, and because he cares he doesn't want to burden people with his problems - this means he's constantly running on emotional empty. He's also logical to the point of having left others behind to save more. He's in a period of transition between ways of thinking right now and these things are likely to change. 41. Does your PC have a favorite spell, and if so, which? He can only cast find familiar (magic initiate feat) - but a fellow player uses Web in such cool ways he probably thinks that one is pretty cool.
