Leg armor wip

So I picked these up at a goodwill pay by the pound outlet. They're missing a few straps but I happen to have some hooks and elastic from a previous project.

And here they are sanded down so I can paint them.

Dream Hype

Like the gnomes, if you left the Bear alone, it wouldn’t hurt you. The man walked into town, his face painted like more than a pure blood, with a leash that lead to a collar that led to a bear. Since Devil’s Den, there were more raiders, new raiders. Scarier raiders. There was one group, that when they were coming, would ring a bell off in the distance. The town would gear up, the ones that couldn’t fight would hide. The bell rang when the man and the bear came into town too.

It was in the midst of the panic of getting ready to defend against the raiders that Disney saw the bear. She was an inch from running into it. She fell flat on her ass. Ever the klutz at the exact wrong moment. And then, Noah, brave little stupid Noah, was standing behind her with rocks in his hands. He threw them at the bear, distracting it from Disney. And then the bear chased the baby Retrograde. Disney was up and running. She had to protect the Retrograde. No one else would.

She reached in her pocket and there was a key. The bear reached to tear limb and armor from Noah. Disney dove between them, holding her Tenth Doctor and key in front of her. And the bear stopped in its tracks as music poured from the key.

“Now I know that I can’t make you stay

But where’s your heart

But where’s your heart.”

The man with the face paint walked up and put the collar back on the Bear. Disney couldn’t hear him over the King. Not Saul’s King. Not the King of the Darkwave. She couldn’t think of where she had heard it. It must have been from her long forgotten past.

“Don’t you hear that?” Disney asked Noah.

“Hear what, Doc Disney?” Elsie asked.

And Disney began to sing the song of the King “I see you lying next to me, with words I thought I’d never speak, awake and unafraid, asleep or dead.” The words tore ragged, like just saying them wasn’t enough, the emotion had to bleed through. All emotion had to bleed through.

A hand came from the Darkwave tent they stood in front of and dragged Elsie back into the depths of Kings Court. Disney turned to go find Saul and came face to face with Vex and Ghost. The words of her King wouldn’t stop coming out of her mouth.

“Disney’s religion hopping.” Vex noted.

“She’s going the way of Aspen. Abandoning the glow.” Ghost responded.

“Don’t go the way of Aspen, Disney. Don’t go the way of Aspen.”

Disney woke with a start covered in sweat, the words of the King from her dream on her lips. “I am not afraid to walk this world alone, honey if you stay you’ll be forgiven, nothing you can say will stop me going home.” Just as ragged from her throat upon waking as they were in the dream.

She had to talk to Saul. She had to find that key. She had to hear that King again.

DR OR Achievements

[Evolved In the Not Dead Way] - Apologized to Laz. Did not die. Learned more about the Darwin faith. Still did not die. 

[They. Never. Stop. Coming.] - Live through MULTIPLE never ending zombie spawns. Screamers. White Ladies. Tanks. It was not the most pleasant thing ever. 

[I'm feeling excessively religious] - As a result of the never ending zombie hordes, get Call the Almighty-ed 3 times, by a different religion each time. Sainthood, Kings Court, Darwin. 

[Staring Contest] - See a zed at the back door. Stare at it to make sure it is in character. See it step forward. Yell at the morons next to the door that there is a zed right there. Get told I was wrong. Laugh when they're still to scared to go outside and face the "nonexistent zed anyways". 

[Bravest Doctor] - Yell at the shield guy standing in the middle of the room to go defend the door that is being broken down. Offer money for it. When he dips out the back door, taunt the zed over to you. 

[Do Work Get Paid] - Get paid the equivalent of 5 Starbucks for healing people. Rejoice in the most money you have ever had. Turn it back over to Andry in the morning. 

[Scrub Team Six] - Get told Saul is in charge. Bemoan that we are all going to die. Remind Saul you love him. 

[Disney Heal Your Captain] - Think that people are yelling for you because the probies are drunk again. Hear BFG ON ME! Jump up and get told that they legit need you to heal Andry. Blow 50% of your mind healing Andry. Rejoice that you're important.

DR WA Opener 2K16 Achievements

[Pre-game shenanigans]- Lose my small before game on somewhere between BFG and the Protectorate. Don't realize it until you get back to BFG. Go back to the Protectorate, don't find it. Learn that Mario turned it into ops. Melt into a puddle of sweat. [Can't touch this] - Dodge a Cinder's swings. Totally sacrifice my patient and run inside the tavern to escape. (Don't worry it's Torque he can take it.) [Even more useful!] - Learn how to be a cook from 89. Help prepare the best pulled pork sandwich ever eaten ever. [F*~#$% I'm gonna die] - Piss off big bad people. Have no regrets. Welcome the coming evolution. Curse a lot. [Wait you know who I am?] - In the same 12 hour span have Andry and Jag both refer to you by name. Try not to panic because you're just a probie. Fan girl immediately afterwards. [Boycott the Natural One] - Have a Natural One say "I don't understand why they're allowed to walk around like they're people". Regarding Retrogrades. To your masked and rotted face. Be salty about it all weekend. [The heat fuels my salt] - Sweat a lot. Become progressively more salty as the day goes on. Regret nothing. [Proud mama retrograde] - Realize that the trouble child Retrograde has learned hiding is more cost effective than healing. Give him a highfive. [I really hope those stabilized people all survived...] Stabilize many many people on Sunday. Lose count of the stabilizes. Curse Gabriel for not returning your Crash Kit.

[Potato Potahto] (NPC shift)- Help Potato a lone person near Pixies. Knock them into bleed out. Half-Potato the person that comes to rescue them. Get killed by the person that comes to save both of them. Watch them all limp away.

Disney’s new summer gear! Lookit my goofy hair! It’s impossible to control on a good day, let alone covered in heat and dirt and zombie-ness. Thanks a million to Striving Photography for the super awesome DR pictures! You can tell these are from Saturday because I look super dead inside :D

Post meet cool down

So after sleeping nearly 20 hours post-DR, I just gotta say that this meet trumped Uprise by a long way. No annoying squid monsters, no bright white lights pointed in my tent (bonus points sleeping inside BFG this time), plus some great roleplay. 

Was some awk tense drama before opening announcements, but thankfully i never ever ever had to deal with it in game. Cuz that would have sucked. 

Disney had some great roleplay with BFG. She managed to piss off one of the heavy hitters of Stone Heart Co (death threats were involved which was super surprising but ya know she doesn’t handle bullies well). THis ended with “Yeah Laz isn’t gonna touch you” from like 5 BFG members a “Hey he’s not gonna touch you but maybe next time apologize” from Buddy and a “I can talk to him if you need” from Jag (almighty Jag talked to Disney she is not worthy). Disney is still pretty much in shock that both Jag and Andry know her name and like her, much less stand up for her and Andry even asked for healing this meet (he then no longer needed it but whatevs she got requested which was super awesome). Also learned Eric of the Woods and Eric of the Shady Deals are no scrubs and should not be trifled with, however hiding behind them may also not work well. 

But Saul and 89 were the real heroes of Disney’s meet. 89 teaching her to cook and giving her a plate from the bbq (the pulled pork was amazing and I would have murdered for a second plate. Granted didn’t need to starbucks are a thing) Saul was just super amazing and supportive and told her about how super awesome kings court is because no Solo Artists. WHich is amazing to her. Much more amazing than how all the Darwins are basically “Kick ass take names ignore anyone who cant roll with us” 

It was a great meet, and the game while hot was still fun and adventurous. I may even have gotten a tan. I’m hoping to go to DR Oregon this coming weekend and learn new cook skills ( she’s planning on doc/cook/priest aka the heal goddess)

Gabriel

The first person that showed her kindness when she entered the city was an angel. Gabriel to be exact. He put weapons in her hand, he called her by her name. "Oh good a Doctor!" He introduced himself and offered a smile. In a world where all she's known is death and those that rise from death, a smile was more than she had ever dreamed in this place. 

She had heard about the death that came in the Rend. About the Gravemind that drove anyone she touched mad. But this angel smiled at her first. The first person to ever offer a harsh word about Gabriel was the man himself. "Don't believe the rumors" he told her. Slowly she's come to realize those rumors and what they mean. 

He's a mugger. 

He's killed people.

He might be the Gravemind.

He worships the Gravemind if he isn't the Gravemind.

He has a family now, a wife and twins.

 And Disney sees how he looks at his wife, how he offers helping hands to those new to town, how he charges into battle to rescue fallen comrades. He has fallen by her side in battle, they both fell to mortar thrown by raiders and he told someone else to get her out of there.She cannot reconcile those actions with the words she hears about him. 

Murderer. 

Cultist. 

Mugger. 

Demon, she's heard once. 

When she thought that he was going to murder Aspen, but Aspen and Gabriel set her straight, Disney almost wept for joy. She couldn't reconcile the angel with a smile and a murderer. Maybe he lived another life in the past. Everyone seems satisfied to use that when talking about Muffins and Ghost. 

Or maybe Gabriel has always done what he's had to. She understands doing what you must. 

It was that feeling, the feeling of people that have done what they must to survive that brought her to BFG. Rather than the feeling of cowards that survive by hiding, the feeling of those that do something to survive and to push other's survival is what brought her to BFG. And the angel with a smile for her. 

She sees no villains in her new home.

Origin Story

In the mines she had no name. In the irradiated mines, Retrogrades were a boon. They were nearly as important as Iron Slaves. They discovered quickly that she had some kind of medical knowledge. All those years patching up Adakais, or something. So it was that she became known as Doctor. Her first name. They would scream it and she would run. Always running for someone else. Her family before the mines helped people. That was all she remembered of them before the mines and the death screams of the slaves that fell. Eventually Doctor got sick. Even Retrogrades get sick eventually. Broken from the work, sick from the air, the Vegasians she had been sold to put her out in the wastes to die. A broken toy was no good to them.

Then her family found her. The Rovers. They offered the Vegasians a price, one worth more than she was worth, as broken as she was. The Rovers took her, far away from the mines. And they loved her like family. She was never a slave to them, never Doctor. Never nameless. They named her. A box they found with a castle on it, named WA Disney. They would never be safer than that castle. But they had hope. So they named her Wa Disney. She kept the name Doctor. She would never forget where she came from. Doctor Wa Disney.
