Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival once again showed fans what they are made of with a packed weekend of talent, great food and gorgeous weather.
Saturday’s sunny skies brought out thousands to Burlington’s beautiful Spencer Smith Park.

My day started off by catching the mid-day headliner Doc Walker on the OLG Stage which was the home of the country lineup for the day. Doc Walker got the party started in the afternoon to a crowd that was singing and dancing the afternoon away.
The Ascot Royals

The next band I caught were The Ascot Royals who were playing on the TD Stage. When going to a festival I love nothing more than discovering a band I hadn’t heard before and falling in love with their music. This was The Ascot Royals for me. As soon as they started playing I was instantly impressed and couldn’t wait to add these guys to my playlist.

Since the festival I can’t even count the number of times I’ve listened to their “New Skin” EP which is one of the best EP’s I’ve heard in quite some time in my honest opinion. From the motivational and hard hitting title track New Skin to my personal favourites Tectonic and Best is yet to Come this band and EP is one you definitely want to check out. Their stage presence and incredible tight sound and chill inducing vocals have definitely made me a fan for life.
Barstool Prophets

Next up on the TD Stage was the Barstool Prophets which were a throwback to 90’s nostalgia, being born in 1990 I was a kid when these guys were touring so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Everyone that surrounded me screaming and singing along when they took the stage just proves that when you make killer music, it maintains it’s relevance throughout the years.
The Road Hammers

Next up I ran down to the OLG stage to catch headliners The Road Hammers and of course in true Road Hammers fashion they put on an unforgettable show. The crowd was absolutely massive and The Road Hammers took notice and interacted and played off the crowd throughout their set filled with classics, favourites and new material.

It’s always so refreshing to see a band that cares so much about their fans and takes the time to get out and about in the crowd during the day and enjoy the festival as well, even if some people wouldn’t necessarily have spotted them in their costumes and wigs.
Moist

I capped my night off by heading back up to the TD Stage which by this time was flooded with people patiently waiting for headliners Moist to take the stage and i’m so glad I did. Keeping with the 90’s nostalgia theme Moist played an incredible set packed with hit after hit. I can’t say enough great things about this lineup and this festival and I look forward to see what 2018 will bring.
