There were no words to describe how much Babe hated the scorching humid weather of Louisiana, and he'd only been there for two or three days, mostly for partying reasons (The parties there are wild okay, he had to get a taste of that).
For now, he was in a cafe, attempting to forget about his currently raging hangover he acquired by going to a local bar the night before. He didn't have much else to do, other than look around and admire everything, and while doing so, his eyes paused on a person sitting at a nearby table.. Wow that guy looked a lot like someone he knew.. Strikingly similar.. He squinted, was it just his eyes playing tricks on him..? He almost just shrugged it off and continued with his business, but something told him to investigate.
Pushing himself out of his seat, he grabbed his coffee, walked over to the other person, and took a seat across from him. "No fuckin' way." He spoke bluntly, smile spreading across his features, he still wasn't sure if this was real or not.
"Hey Gene, long time no see, huh?"

“Are you burning a body?”
Violence & Death
A blue handkerchiefwas tied around her head, covering up her mouth and nose as she stoodwith her arms crossed near the evacuation hospital, a small ditchhaving been dug in the frigid and frozen dirt the best that one coulddo in such short notice. The smell had been something that onecouldn’t explain, but it had to be done, that was what everyone wastelling her and the other nurses who were the ones who had to get thehelp of medics to move dead bodies to the small little trenches.
They had doused thebodies in petrol, lit them on fire, and had let them burn. It hadbeen one of the worst experiences she had ever had to preside over, witness, and accept, but the reasoning behind it had at least beenreasonable and for sanitary purposes.
There had beenseveral bodies that were beginning to pile up outside the hospital, rats were starting to nibble on the remains, the vermin slowlyturning into an outbreak of sorts, and the fear of lime disease andother illnesses befalling the wounded nearby had made many paranoid, including the young brunette nurse who saw no other way of doingthings when they couldn’t make a mass grave as intended.
She stood therewatching the charred remains slowly burn into nothing but ash, thefire contained by men with water and other means to make sure nothingcaught on fire and that the dirty deed had been done with the utmostrespect despite most of the bodies being that of deceased Germansoldiers and even American. It was ironic to the woman fromWashington, D.C., how everyone was the same in death.
An accented voicemade her attention move from the dying flames from the field to amedic nearby, a familiar medic she had seen many times and spoke toon several occasions. A medic that she had found herself being veryfond of. For a moment she felt he was going to judge her, was goingto think she was a horrible criminal just like Hitler himself, but ifshe had to she’d explain what was happening.
“We had to,”she said to him as she pulled down the handkerchief, her face sullenand sad. “We were getting rats and we had no where else to takethese dead men.”

"I won't say a word but I think he knows."
Daughter sentence meme
Gene’svoice made her heart skip a beat. Who knew what? Swallowing, shelooked over at him, licking her lips as the man’s blue eyes stared ather. Was he toying with her? Being playful like he had been so manyyears ago at that aid station when they first met?
Itwould have been nice, she thought, to see that side of him again, butwar did things to people, changed them and how they viewed the worldand how they said things. His statement could’ve meant a lot ofdifferent things and her mind was trying to think of what she couldhave done that someonewould know, something that Gene also knew.
Slittingher eyes, she leaned in towards him as she crossed her arms againstthe table they both say at in the unit, psychiatric patients payingno mind to the pair considering they all had their own activitiespreoccupying them at the moment, such as cards or some game on theradio.
“Whoknows what, exactly?” she questioned with a slight grin across herlips. “Doctor Fines?” Eloise cocked an eyebrow as she said hisname, suddenly feeling very paranoid and looking around bothshoulders to make sure they were alone. Peggy wasn’t on duty thatevening and the good doctor was on call in case something happened, which essentially meant he wasn’t there unless she called him.
“Wetalking about that kiss, Doc? Because, if someone knows, we’re in deeptrouble,” she smiled and let out a laugh. “They can’t prove muchof anything anyway, can they? Nobody saw it…not even you and I.”

The danger the medics put themselves into was ridiculous, all to save the life of another.. It was as if this was all a game.. The contestant, a soldier under immense pressure.. The rules being, you can only shoot certain ducks.. But the ducks with a distinct cross were off limits.. Though the ducks and the soldier are far away, so it’s hard to tell them apart from one another, and a duck with a cross gets hit.. That’s not always the case though, sometimes the soldier simply doesn’t care and shoots the duck with the cross anyways.. It made makes you want to yell at the contestant and call him a filthy cheater..
Wade was quick to rush to Gene’s side, luckily the bullet only skimmed right past him, though it still did quite a bit of damage, it was nothing serious..
After decent treatment, the shorter medic began patching the other up, a thin, long, piece of cloth was gingerly wrapped around the Cajun’s arm, where he nearly dodged a bullet.. The silence was broken by a voice simply stating, ‘It hurts..’ Irwin simply nodded in response, a frown gracing his lips as he gently wrapped the wound.. “I know.. I’m trying to be gentle..” He sighed and finally finished,
“There.. That wasn’t that bad, was it?”
