Jackie lets himself into their apartment, sniffs the air, and sneezes.
The air smells- cold. Solemn as the grave, as it usually does; he's actually gotten used to the comfort of the weight of the atmosphere. Like a weighted blanket, he told Henrik. Atop that lies the heavier smell of abject fucking misery, and he likes that far less.
He sets down his bag, and peers around the room like it'll tell him where Henrik's gone. He can't hear anything, but the doctor is already terrifyingly quiet, and the smell doesn't tell him anything useful.
With another sigh, he tugs off his jacket, tossing it onto the chair. Henrik will scold him, but Henrik always scolds him, and then Jackie masterfully redirects him.
"Hen," he calls out into the quiet. "I'm back. No hello, how are you kisses?"
Even with wolf-sharp hearing, he can only hear a muffled garble of words in response, but still, Jackie perks up. There he is.
Henrik is, when he slips into their bedroom, bundled up under their weighted blanket and staring at the book in front of him; so much for reading, Jackie assumes. With a hum, Jackie approaches, collapsing onto his side of the bed; he doesn't try to touch Henrik just yet. There are bad days, and there are bad days. The soft mattress against his back does wonders for his screaming muscles, and he can't help but relax, ever so slightly.
"I know that page isn't that riveting that you'd ignore my arrival," he says, batting his eyes up at Henrik; Henrik doesn't even bat an eye. That's... still worrying. There should be a jibe, a jab, something.
He sighs, and offers his hand, palm up; Henrik will take it if he wants the touch. "Talk to me, Polaris. What's wrong? Is today's day-"
He pauses, wracking his brains. Shit, he didn't miss Henrik's turning-day, or something, did he? But no, it's well in the middle of November and that gods-forsaken day was in August.
Henrik does, to his surprise, reach out to take his hand, lacing their fingers together. He's cool, cooler than a regular human; Jackie's going to have to make sure he's not been forgetting to feed. Taking the opportunity, Jackie wiggles closer, pressing up to Henrik's side.
"It's not your turning day, as far as I know, work's been okay-?"
"I saw," Henrik says quietly, "someone I didn't expect to see. I told you about- in work, they transferred in someone I knew. Jack."
Jackie makes a noise of understanding. Henrik's talked about Jack very, very rarely; only on nights where he's half-drowsy from satiation or otherwise preoccupied. All he knows- all he knows is that this Jack had something to do with his turning.
He's trying not to make too many assumptions about that, brutal as Henrik's turning had been. It's entirely just as likely he was an innocent bystander in an otherwise horrific attack.
"And I'm assuming people came with him."
"Apparently," Henrik says, and the wet-mulch smell of misery only increases tenfold. Jackie flounders for a moment, and eventually sits upright so he can wriggle under the blanket with Henrik. In his defense, Henrik is running cold right now; he could use the extra heat.
"And this is...? A bad thing?"
"A reminder," Henrik says, and then lapses back into silence. Definitely a brooding mood. Jackie shakes his head, and curls around Henrik; Henrik is not a small man, and he can't quite nestle his head on the curve of his shoulder the way he usually would, but this has never stopped Jackie, and he's not planning on letting it stop him now.
"Is today a take-out and GATTACA night?"
Henrik pauses, and then sighs, the movement exaggerated enough that Jackie rocks a little with it. "If that was a pun about feeding on a date night..."
Jackie snickers. "C'mon. It wasn't even that bad. Had some real bite to it--"
"You're awful," Henrik tells him primly, turning to trap him in a headlock; Jackie wiggles with glee. Mission- distract boyfriend a resounding success, and he lets the wolf's pelt flow over him like a second skin as he twists to wrestle Henrik in turn. He can't- he can't fix this. He became a hero to help, and sometimes, he's learnt, it's just company that can help.
Henrik's not smiling, exactly, but those deep brown eyes are softening, softening- so he figures he'll take the victories where he can get them.

==================
— Jackie, it's just... All my life I've been following rules, patterns, setting my life on one thing, and... and being with you is amazing! But... — he cleared his throat — living with you would be so uncertain, and what I have, even if boring, is...
— Tell me you don't love me.
Henrik stopped, slowly raising his head and lowering his hands. The green eyes he met were glowing with sadness, anger, love.
Love.
— ...huh?
— As long as you keep saying you love me, I'll be here. And that's clearly not what you want — he looked down, his voice out of breath — just tell me you don't love me. And I'll go.
— Jackie, I... — he got closer, trying to hold his hands, unsuccessful — you know I can't do this. Don't you understand?
— No yeah yeah, I understand. It's just that I have never let people enter my life so easily, it's hard, you know? To trust people. But now I'm standing wITH MY ONLY FRIEND IN THE WORLD — he pointed to his necklace, where Marvin stayed while JBM was out — IN FRONT OF THE MAN I LOVE, AND... and... fuck!
Those blue eyes. Damn blue eyes. Shivering in fear of his sudden yelling, reflecting the soft moon light, which was standing high, watching them on the porch.
— Henrik, I won't do anything until you give me an answer — his voice grew softer with each word and, despite his mind demanding him to stop, he couldn't help but hold his face — do you want me to stay?
How could he be so lovingly, yet so cruel. To treat him like a prince, offer him amazing nights, be understanding of his boundaries and habits, and still ask such thing. To be so incomprehensible all of sudden.
And there he was. Stroking his beard, pressing their foreheads together; one foot inside the room, the other outside.
Fucking metaphor.
— Jackie... — he gasped. That green ocean, staring so intensly, could drown him any second — You... I...
He fell silent.
And then, there were lips crushing together and tongues desperately exploring each other.
God damn it, a kiss this hungry wasn't what Jackie needed right now, but fuck it, did it feel good. To feel Henrik's arms around his neck, squeezing it, trying to minimize a non-existent distance; hug his waist thight while they devoured each other so violently, the well-known mint taste invading his mouth. As always.
As he always did.
As he always fell for Henrik. Like if he was a drug.
And Jackie was afraid he wouldn't be able to recover from this addiction.
— I hate you — he whispered against his mouth, entering the room and pushing him to bed — you always do this to me. I always do this to me. God, I hate myself.
— Jackie... Jackie, I... — he gasped when the hero bit his shoulder, hard enough to make it bleed.
— Shut the fuck up, ok? For once — he sighed, laying him on bed and getting on top of him — just pretend you love me one more night.
“I don’t think the sun has ever shined here. Or at least not when I’m here.” Marvin said, looking at Chase.
Chase nodded. They were sitting on lawn chairs watching Robbie and Jackie play in the yard. “The sun doesn’t normally shine in these woods,” Chase said. “It’s why Henrik chose it. These woods are magical. Henrik doesn’t know how yet but it’s a good hiding spot.”
Marvin smiled. “What a nice day. I’m glad everyone’s enjoying it,” he whispered, turning back to Jackie and Robbie.
Robbie laughed as Jackie chased him around the yard. He tripped and rolled in the grass, he let out a playful shout when Jackie gently rolled him over. “No, the monster got me!”
Jackie barked and smiled, showing sharp teeth. “And now I’m going to eat you.”
Robbie flailed around and laughed when Jackie shoved his face into Jackie's chest and nuzzled into his chest. “I got drinks,” Henrik said, walking out of the house.
Robbie and Jackie both jumped up and ran over to him. Henrik handed Robbie and Jackie plastic cups with lemonade. The two sat and laughed softly as they drank their juice. Henrik turned to Chase and Marvin and set the plate down on the table between them. “I’m guessing you would rather have wine?”
Chase nodded eagerly and grabbed a glass. “I’ll watch him Hen,” Marvin said, taking another glass.
Henrik smiled. “Thanks, Marvin.”
Chase groaned. “I’m an adult.”
“Sometimes I question that,” Marvin whispered.
Chase let out a cry of offence and reached over to punch the other man. Henrik rolled his eyes as he picked up the tray that now held three drinks. He walked over to the side of the house where JJ sat under a black parasol. “Hello Jameson, are you doing alright?”
JJ looked up and smiled. ‘Yes.’ he signed.
“If you need to go inside please do.”
The vampire nodded and gestured at the umbrella. Henrik handed him a glass of blood. “I want some.” a voice hissed.
Henrik raised an eyebrow and turned to see the open basement window where Anti was peering out. “I got you seltzer water,” Henrik said and handed him a plastic cup.
Anti took it, muttering under his breath. JJ laughed and patted Anti's claws which were gripping the grass. “Just make sure he stays in there.”
JJ nodded and Anti hissed. “Come on Jay, we’re friends right?” he whispered and grabbed JJ’s hand.
‘Yes we are and you will stay in the basement for your own safety and for everyone else's.’
Anti whined and started drinking his water. Henrik nodded to JJ and walked over to Jackie and Robbie. “I’m glad you two are enjoying the sunshine.”
Robbie nodded. “Warm.”
Henrik sat down and Jackie scooted closer so he could rest his head on Henrik’s shoulder. “Do you want me to throw a stick?”
“Yes,” Jackie whispered and kissed Henrik’s cheek.
“One moment. Robbie, how are your stitches holding up?”
“Good,” Robbie said and smiled happily.
“I’m glad,” Henrik said, standing up and pulling a stick out of his pocket. “Go get it,” Henrik shouted as he threw the stick across the yard. Jackie and Robbie took off after it, with Jackie running and Robbie laughing as he slowly followed the werewolf.
ok sorry for bothering you and sorry if i'm getting this wrong, but since you said it was ok to ask henrik or angus (ig) with chase or jackie, maybe some dochero headcanons please?? :0
You did get it correct, and you’re fine and aren’t bothering me. Angus/Henrik will not be done on this blog due my headcannons for them, but they can be with Chase and Jackie if that explains it better. Anyway, here you go!
Henrik and Jackie normally go out on dates because Jackie likes to show how much he loves the doctor ego.
They worry about each other a lot; Henrik because Jackie comes back with a lot of scars, and Jackie because some villains know his identity and could hurt Henrik at any moment.
They constantly need to redo their sleep schedules because there are times where when Henrik is awake, Jackie is asleep or vice versa.
Henrik buys Jackie comic books whenever the hero can’t go to work and needs to heal.
Jackie pulls a lot of surprise hospital visits when Henrik is working, most of them being to either kiss him or tell him he’s injured.
There’s a lot of arguments on each other’s safety that ends with them cuddling and watching movies, most of them being ones that Henrik picks.
Henrik has tried on Jackie’s suit from time to time, and he has been caught before. Jackie doesn’t mind as long as he doesn’t mess it up.
Unfortunate for Jackie, Henrik knows he’s ticklish and absolutely uses it to his advantage.
A lot of “Don’t scare me like that again”s because either Jackie being out for longer than normal, or Henrik having his phone off for long periods of time.
They like to sit outside and watch the stars at night together whenever they can, which is rare due to busy schedules.
hey tae! fun fact: before you, i loved these guys platonically, but now?? my love for them knows no limits regardless of relationship- i think they are wonderful romantic or otherwise
