I’m doing some archival research for this paper I’m writing, and currently reading Thomas Lodge’s “A Treatise on the plague” (1603). 

The problem with this is that if you read old-timey English too fast things become either completely incomprehensible or completely hilarious, case in point:

6)  are youreligious/spiritual?

I’ve never been religious (my parents used to makeus say prayers at night and then one day when I was about 7 I was like “do youbelieve in god?” and my parents were like “no” and neither did I – so we justquietly stopped doing them). I’ve been to a few churches because I love the architecture,but never for a religious service.

I DID used to be all into the witchy-pagan scenewhen I was about 10-13, but that petered out too.

(Sure I could have mentioned any of the classicalliterature I study but, like, I was a nerd as a child and these are definitely themost worn and loved books on my shelf)

I would love to say I’m a Slytherin- with ambition andcunning etc… in fact I used to think of myself that way- by on closerinspection I’m clearly a Ravenclaw. I’m massively academic and have my head inthe clouds all the time – like I do well in university, it’s just real lifethat I suck in :L

Two movies: Repo Men (my all-time favourite film. Fight me.) Jupiter Ascending (the greatest new film to grace our screens, from the directing team that bought me the Matrix and encouraged a childhood of fighting all my friends :L)

Three TV shows: Steven Universe, Gravity Falls (have you seen my dash lately?? …I am so sorry), The Walking Dead (I don’t blog about it much as I want to keep gore of my blog but I LOVE this show and Melissa McBride who plays Carol is my QUEEN)

Four People:  Terry Pratchett (Very sad to see him go, but grateful for everything he bought into the world), Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe is a gift and I thank you for it), Garnet (…they didn’t have to be real people did they?? Garnet is my square mum and I love her), the wonderful markedasinfernal for putting up with me claiming her as best-friend and then making her live with me for a year and then being the weirdest person physically possible to live with – ily <3  

Five foods: Hmm not really a food-y person but I guess: My nan’s vegetable stir fry, my nan’s shepherd’s pie (look my nan is a BOSS at cooking) peanut M&Ms (which I am eating RIGHT NOW mmm), hummus and pita bread, proper chip-shop chips with WAY too much salt and vinegar.

26. Do you know triplets? I have cousins who are triplets. It’s pretty cool.

33. If you have a nickname, what is it? I guess Lish/Lisha? Mostly everyone calls me by my name

48. What religion will you raise your children to practice? I don’t ever plan on having children, but if I did I would be sure that they knew religion was an option. I’d allow them to choose. No way in hell am I forcing any kind of religion on my kids. I feel like that’s a path in life that you have to take when you’re ready, if you want to do so.
