Skillet
Oh my oh my oh my What an evening!
I really thought nothing could beat Panic! .. but I was wrong.
But let’s start at the beginning, shall we? I arrived at Docks at 2.45pm, so basically three hours before the doors opened and I was, like, the 15th person there and holy shit, it was freezing. This time, I didn’t make friends with anyone but I did share my blanket because the group standing next to me was freezing. (Yes, I’m a mum friend XD)
When the doors opened, I was a bit confused because I didn’t know the venue. I had to go to Hamburg to see Skillet bc they couldn’t be bothered to come to Berlin. Eh. Fine with me, I love Hamburg. But everything was fine, I got my tour shirt and I ended up on a platform in front of the stage, so I was at the barrier AGAIN. (I was really lucky this week haha)
During the opening act I noticed that security was telling people not to film the show. But did that stop me or others? Nope. I picked a fight with one of the less scary dudes about it being unfair that people in the pit would be able to film and us silly front row people would get scolded. Eventually he let the girl he was flirting with and me film songs but I ended up recording less songs than I actually wanted to film which sucks :( I got Never Gonna Die, The Last Night, Comatose and Monster though which are my favourite songs, so I’m happy. The show itself was energetic af (even the opening act was great despite someone saying they’d sound like shit). John was headbanging and so was Jen and they seemed like they were having the time of their life. Korey seemed a bit off but I also noticed John saying his favourite things were video games and rock'n'roll and Jesus (I keep forgetting about Skillet being a Christian band … yikes) while his wife was on stage, so eh.. not cool, bro. I hope you treat her better in private. During one of the songs I didn’t recognize John came to the barrier and let the fans sing and high-fived the front row. Even I got to touch his hand for a short second, it was really cold despite the whole band sweating like hell. XD For two songs (Awake and Alive and .. oh geez, was it The Last Night? I think I filmed the second song) Jen left her drums to sing and was jumping around, being all smiley and cute and even promised a fan to give them her drum sticks. Tbh, I fell in love with Jen tonight, she really is a beast on the drums and I loved watching her ❤ Don’t tell anyone but I cried during The Last Night. It’s an emotional song that reminds me of my youth and I’m so glad they played it. After the show a mum asked me to send her the pictures I took and hugged me when I said I’d do it. The kids she accompanied were so excited and were able to sing with John and it was really sweet. :)
So .. after eight years of knowing the band I finally saw them live and it was even better than everything I imagined. I’m definitely gonna go see them again when they’re back again ❤
Favorite songs: Comatose & Monster Surprise of the evening: Stars & Awake And Alive Favorite moment: The crowd chanting Rise in Revolution AFTER Rise was finished (the crowd went so wild haha) Rating: 4/5
PS: John, we know your band's called Skillet. That's why we're here. Because we know who you are. No need to repeat it so often
