sdkfjhskdjh you really want to unleash the beast *cracks knuckles*
for context, i read all grishaverse books before the show came out and specifically read the trilogy in like one day (yeah i know) and like in the beginning of the first book i could def see how the d*rkling was charming and could even see myself falling for the same manipulation that alina was falling for
i know there's a lot of criticism for the d*rkling not being an interesting character or a compelling villain and i can see why to an extent but tbh i did find him to be interesting, i just never thought he was good/redeemable/worth stanning??? and by the end of the trilogy needless to say i wanted that bitch dead dead
what i find the most interesting about the d*rkling was that in the books (let's not talk about the backstory in the show bc yike), he didn't have some tragic villain origin story, he was just fucking greedy and desperate for power and didn't care about anyone but himself and his rise to power. he uses everyone around him, gets rid of them when they're no longer of use to him and i found that so... refreshing bc it just makes so much sense with the central themes of the story (greed and how it corrupts)
anyway yeah clearly i am NOT a d*rkling stan and will never be but i do find him to be an interesting (but irredeemable) villain
send me ☕️ + a topic and i'll tell you what i think
