on march 31st 2022 tumblr user @everythingispirates made a textpost, suggesting that "superwholockifying" pirates of the caribbean, black sails and our flag means death would be the only real shot at making pirates of the caribbean socially relevant again. a person suggested 'we [should] just gaslight everyone by claiming jack [sparrow] and barbossa are canonically ex-husbands'

on the same day tumblr user @everythingispirates made a second post where they claimed jack sparrow and barbossa are canonically gay ex-husbands and posted alleged evidence to prove it. the post blew up and many people seemed confused, others believed its true and some people further spread the joke. in early april pirates of the caribbean was trending on tumblr

in late march 2022 tumblr user @boyboobs created a post about a meme idea they had while high. the meme idea is that people would respond to tumblr posts with an image of a person drinking out of a huge glass captioned “i drinked you”. the post went viral and the image started spreading on tumblr
