Autumn Fun Fair, Karlsruhe. November 2025
Let's knock out a few carts tonight. First up we have a couple pretty neat driving games, 280 ZZZAP and Dodgem.
Both control basically the same, using the paddle at the top of the joystick to steer and I have to admit that both are relatively fun to play. The over the top crashes in 280 ZZZAP are a hoot and Dodgem really just makes me want to play Monaco GP.
As far as I can recall, I've not played the arcade version of 280 ZZZAP/Midnight Racer though it does look familiar.
Next up is The Incredible Wizard, a home version of Wizard of Wor. I didn't spend much time with this one, (I think it froze a couple of times) but from what I was able to play, it handled well enough though I did get caught on some corners a few times.
And last is Star Battle, an obvious Star Wars cash grab. Playing the CPU was somewhat of a repetitive process and I'd guess that once you get the hang of it can be pretty easy to win unscathed. Regardless, the way the ships move around each other is kinda neat.
The need for speed of Danny Dachshund had brought him too far away..
In the 1920's, when the bumper car theme park attraction was first introduced by a company aptly named Dodgem, the purpose was to avoid colliding with other cars while driving with the erratic steering. The cars would often fall apart from accidental collisions. – WTF Fun Facts
