Is it enough?

one day robby wakes up to a wrapped present on his kitchen table.

santos has been picking dennis up, so that the er doesn’t notice how rarely sleeps at home these days. he must have put it there before leaving this morning. it’s a nice gift, not too expensive, but thoughtful in a way that warms him. the only thing is - he doesn’t know what it’s for. it’s not his birthday and he has no other reason to believe that dennis thinks it is. it’s not their anniversary, he checked.

at work dennis avoids him, always leaving to check up on a patient just as robby comes along. when he finally gets the chance to talk to dennis, he brings up the topic carefully. the last thing he wants is to offend him. so he thanks him for the gift and is stunned when the only response he gets is a blushing dennis. he quickly excuses himself again, before robby can coerce him into telling him the reason for said gift.

robby is so keen on finding out why dennis got him a gift, that he’s a little unfocused at work - not in a way that harms patients of course, but enough that it takes him a while to notice.

he’s just going over some emails at the nurses station, when he overhears donnie tell perlah and princess about the surprise his wife got him this morning for his first father’s day. oh. could it-? he thinks back to dennis blushing and squirming at his earlier gratitude. oh. a warmth spreads through him again, but this time it’s headed lower.
