Sam Winchester is the hero we should all be. Fight me.
This is why I don't usually tell people when I don't like a movie that almost everyone else likes. I just keep mum, then subtly change the subject when there's a natural opening. Because the moment I tell people, they aggressively try to change my mind.
Today's example: Young Frankenstein.
Sorry, y'all, I don't like that movie. There are funny scenes, and great performances, and I do enjoy the song "Puttin' on the Ritz," but in general, I found the movie kind of annoying. That's just my opinion, and I certainly don't condemn anyone for disagreeing with me. Tons of people love that movie, and I don't have a problem with that.
What I do have a problem with is my boss and my coworker both telling me that I'm wrong, that I must have been in a bad mood when I watched it, that I need to try it again with fresh eyes, and maybe with a glass of wine, then I'll see the error of my ways and love the movie just like everyone else.
Fuck off.
I was in a great mood when I saw that movie. I was 20 years old, at a friend's house having a girls night in with a group of 10 or so people. We had pizza for dinner, maple donuts for dessert, and we had margaritas and peach schnapps for fun. One of my friends found out I'd never seen the movie, and of course that had to be rectified, so they popped it in and drank more margaritas (I didn't have a second one, as I didn't want my parents to find out I was drinking). So yeah, by all accounts, I should have been in the perfect mood for a comedy.
It just wasn't that funny.
I didn't tell any of my friends that I didn't like the movie, and we were all tipsy and talking through it anyway, so I doubt they noticed. But the subject of the movie came up at work, and for some reason, I decided to be open and honest. More fool me, I guess. And now I'm even less inclined to give it another chance, because they were such dicks about it. I'm allowed to have an opinion that doesn't align with yours. I'm entitled to dislike a movie that most people like. So, again, with all due respect, fuck off.
“i don’t ship them, but” is such an annoying phrase because you always see it added on to someone’s shippy fanart or gif set and it’s like... yes I too have seen really cool fandom content for things I don’t ship and respected the talent... and yes it’s okay to enjoy a dynamic be it friendship, antagonistic, whatever, without Shipping It and there is all that discourse about the overabundance of shipping focus in fandom which is valid, BUT but but that doesn’t mean anyone gives a shit about whether or not you ship it. If you are reblogging someone’s fanart, graphic edit, gifset, ship meta, whatever... they don’t care. You’re just being annoying.
you don't ship cartinelli? you're wrong
i'm sorry that you see things that way...
Doesn't Mean I'm Wrong by Moriah Poppy.
Thank you to Shawna, aka Nanalew, for making a video with this song in it, and introducing it to me. <3
Fuck I just realized I'm being all Kaiba about this. Despite an inclination I don't want to do it because it involves depending on other people and I'm certain I already know exactly how that works out.
Hmm.
