oaky call me ignorant and if someone has more insight into this feel free to talk to me this isn't an area i'm immensely educated in so i'd love to have a dialogue about it. but i never understand why the response to dogs coming from puppy mills is this unilateral "do NOT touch that dog with a ten foot pole" because i think it feels really... cruel? if you have the time & education & resources to socialize, ensure the heath of, and train that dog, then i've never rrally understood why the feeling is that you should just ignore their existence. the thing is those dogs have already been bred and are already being sold; i guess the principle is not to encourage those practices monetarily in any way which i Understand on a theoretical level but it seems harsh in practice. what happens to those dogs if they're never adopted? idk. i guess my ideal reality would be one in which you can combat the existence of these breeders without letting a dog suffer but i don't know if that's plausible
