Web searches have always been super unhelpful and the vets have had no idea so I’m throwing this question about my dog’s behavior out into to the tumblr abyss— (warning, mentions vomiting very briefly)
Sometimes, my dog signals to me that he wants to go outside and eat grass. He does this by coughing/gagging at me until I let him outside where he proceeds to frantically eat grass. This happens maybe once a month at most and he’s only thrown it up maybe twice in his life. Once he’s decided he’s eaten enough, he happily runs back and is totally fine…the vet said that if there aren’t any other symptoms, then he’s probably good and they have no real idea as to why he would be doing this. His bloodwork/fecal/etc have always been great, though he used to test positive for Ehrlichiosis (he probably had, was treated for, and recovered from it before we adopted him).
My only guess is that maybe he hates when he has a tickle in his throat or something stuck in his teeth and tries to get it out this way :’D honestly though, I have no idea. Any ideas as to why he does this and/or is it a concern?
Hi dogblr!
Idk how many people this will reach, but here goes. Me and my fiance are trying to plan for our next dog, we wont be getting it for probably about 1-2 years, so once Corvus has fully grown and matured more. We aren't too picky about energy level as we're fairly active and have a large fenced yard, and don't really care too much about high grooming maintenance since we already have a high maintenance grooming dog. We would like to keep with a medium-ish to small breed dog though. I personally would love a velcro dog, who's gonna want to cuddle at the end of a long and adventurous day. Some things we are looking to avoid would be dogs with brachy type faces, dogs with short legs and long bodies such as dachshunds and corgis, and dogs who drool excessively. We really want a dog who's going to be avidly able to keep up with our hikes and adventures as well as chill on lazy days or the ends of long and eventful ones.
The breeds we loosely have our eyes on are miniature aussies (although I cant remember if they're prolific for health problems or not) and Alaskan klee kai (more my fiance's choice than my own lol).
If anyone has any suggestions, questions, or advice, please let me know! Help and suggestions are much appreciated!
A question for dog tumblr and or sheep herding tumblr
I don't have a plan to start this for like maybe until I finally retire from whatever I finally decide on doing with my life
Are border collies the only type of dog best for herding? Or would perhaps something like a mastiff or a bernard be okay?
What is the best gift you ever bought your dog(s)?
Question for dog trainers
So I've been learning about positive reinforcement training via clicker training, and I get how you can use the clicker to teach new behaviors. But how do you stop them from doing bad behaviors? In this case, it's barking when people come in the door. We have three dogs and they all do it, and my mom's solution of yelling "NO" at them and grabbing their muzzle to shush them obviously doesn't work. What would be the positive reinforcement way of teaching them not to bark at the door?
I've asked on Twitter to both bioware and david Gaider but I'll ask y'all too since it's very clearly not canon.
If Silvhen were to find a dog that isn't a mabari but a dachshund would the closest to rw origin be Nevarra? Also don't judge me on my spelling it's nearly 6:30 and I still haven't slept
anyone else with puppies having issues with their pup eating pedigree puppy chow? our puppy is about 7-8 months old and will not eat the pedigree food unless she absolutely has to. if i accidentally leave the cats food on the floor, she’ll eat that instead.
i also spoke to a friend with a puppy around the same age, fed her pedigree but their puppy wouldn’t eat it either. they eventually switched to purina puppy chow and now she eats normally! there was no problems in the urine or anything when she eating pedigree and my puppy isn’t having bathroom problems either. she just won’t eat it.
so i’m wondering if anyone has had a similar issue with this brand?
