This is just blatant misinformation, by the way. What this person is calling "agenitalia" is a type of ambiguous genitalia by itself- these "agenital variations" ARE ambiguous genitalia and often are classified as such when discussed in academic contexts. "Agenital" people have ambiguous genitalia because ambiguous genitalia has never meant "in between a penis and vagina" until people decided to fully misinterpret what "ambiguous" means, based off of intersexist stereotypes. Ambiguous genitalia is simply when ones genitalia does not appear fully "male" (complete testicles and phallus) or "female" (complete vagina and clitoris)- there is no definition of ambiguous genitalia that has ever excluded so-called "agenital" variations until recently, and it's a very anti-science view to claim that "agenital" and ambiguous genitalia are two different categories and that not all agenital people have ambiguous genitalia. The idea that ambiguous genitalia must mean "in between male and female" comes from the intersexist myth that intersex people are a "mix of" or "between" male and female, and I cannot believe it is still being perpetuated by so-called "intersex activists" across Tumblr.

Again, this is another reason why agenital as a term needs to be retired when referring to certain genital setups or variations- it is fundamentally based on a misunderstanding of how genitalia is classified and how ambiguous genitalia works. Not only is it intersexist towards people who are classified as "agenital" under that system, it also is based in a much more well-known form of intersex fetishism and intersexism, the idea that intersex genitalia = male and female.

Are you people even trying to hide your bioessentialist transphobia and transmisogyny anymore? The only way for transmisogyny to be "sex-based oppression" is for trans women to have a fundamentally different sex than cisgender women, trans men, and cisgender men- I don't think I should have to explain why that concept is violently transphobic. Trans women are not "males" and they are not "AMABs", trans women are WOMEN who experience a SPECIFIC FORM OF MISOGYNY. And yes there's nuances to that specific statement with nonbinary people who are transfeminized/transmisogynized, I would know because I am one of those people myself. But it still stands that it's no more bioessentialist to say transmisogyny applies to transfems than it is to say intersexism applies to intersex people, and racism applies to racialized people.

nearly every time someone gets run off Tumblr for racefaking as indigenous and a new blog pops up with the same pronouns and interests and views that also claims to be indigenous (usually without specifying an actual tribe), for some reason people will still call you a bigoted piece of shit if you so much as slightly question "hey, is this the same person trying to make a comeback?". Like yeah I know multiple indigenous people can have this niche pronoun set and interest in this specific online discourse, but be so serious do you really think the timing doesn't at all call for a healthy amount of skepticism?

god I am so tired. Agenital as a term shares the same roots as "aromantic" "aplatonic" and "asexual"- three terms that, in their most basic foundational forms, mean "in some way lacking a form of attraction". Agenitalia follows the same naming conventions as these terms, and previously has been used by people wishing to get nulloplasty to mean "lacking genitalia". It is not intersexism to acknowledge that this word, despite the attempts by many to claim otherwise, has an implied meaning of "lacking genitalia".

The phrasing here of "You don't have to call yourself agenital if you're uncomfortable with that... but saying that cryptorchidism as a trait isn't on that spectrum seems to implicate a lack of understanding of what the agenital spectrum is." is insidious. As I've said in previous posts, for those of us forced onto this 'agenital spectrum', we have no way of truly opting out of it, no way to truly be seen as "not agenital" unless we shut up and silence ourselves and never speak about our genital variations ever, and this is just further proof of that. This is saying "you don't have to identify as agenital, but you can't say your genitals aren't inherently agenital spectrum, or else you are intersexist". That is an attempt to still force us (as in, people on this "agenital spectrum") to conform to the idea that we are inherently agenital, that our bodies are inherently agenital, and that our self-identification matters much less than this physical label.

Agenitalia and agenital-spectrum as a concept has been rooted in intersexism from the start, and removes the right to self-identification for individuals with variations that fall within this "spectrum". If identifying as agenital is affirming to you, good, that's your decision. But there will be hundreds of people with your same variation who do not want to be referred to as agenital, and ignoring that fact will not make them all comply or go away.

Not to intersexpost here but it's so disappointing to see a moderately popular intersex blogger call out a More Popular Intersex Blogger only after it started being "pluralphobic" and whatever just to vehemently defend perisex AFAB transfems instead of oh idk. calling out its massive transmisogyny+racism issue and how it routinely speaks over, tokenizes, and shuts down black+indigenous people and transfems who try to have genuine conversations with it by screaming "intersexism" whenever anyone even very very politely tries to talk about transmisogynistic or racist biases it may have. Very fucking telling for real that people refuse to listen to POC + transfems about how someone is shitty until it starts affecting you and your friends. very very very fucking telling!
