Been down memory lane again, so I want to show you something that's still very important to me. Back in 2015 I volunteered at Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary in Dublin, Ireland and even though I could only do this for 2 months it was an experience I'll always cherish in my heart. It's a one of a kind no-kill facility, devoted to abandoned cats and dogs, providing them with love, food, human & dog company and a shelter for as long as they need. It's all run by the gorgeous woman Maggie Howard and her volunteers.
When I didn't had to be in college I'd just spent my whole day there, cleaning kennels, walking dogs, playing and cuddling them and taking lots of photos for the website. During daytime, dogs that get along with other dogs, no matter how small or tall, are allowed to roam freely in an enclosure that has a little one-room-house in the middle. Which can mean up to 30 dogs just hanging out with each other, bouncing, playing and chillin' together, with volunteers who give cuddles inbetween.
Today I saw one of the photos I took for them in my facebook feed and discovered that one of the wonderful dogs I met back then is back at the sanctuary, looking for a new home again, after almost 2 years. This had me going through all my couple thousand photos and picking my 10 favourites to show here. The first one has to be Florence, of course. She's a stunning girl and if I had the means I'd travel right back to Ireland and bring her with me this time.
So if you're living in or around Dublin and love animals, maybe pay them a visit. Next to the many terrible ponds in the area that often put animals down without giving them any chance of rehoming, this is the one place that deserves every support.
