”She’s dangerous”
when I tell people I have a pure breed AmStaff puppy as a pet they say she’s probably wary dangerous and aggressive meanwhile this is who there calling “dangerous”
LIKE LOOK AT HER AND SAY SHE WILL BITE SOMEONE WITHOUT A REASON- you can’t

"adopt don't shop" people really have to come from a place of privilege to act as if the only purpose dogs serve is companionship and therefore they are all interchangeable. this isn't really true anyway but the argument really falls apart when you apply it to herding dogs, LGDs, service dogs, literally anything that people outside of US suburbia might have a need for. and what about all the places where native dog breeds are still used for their original purpose? you think those dogs aren't a part of these people's livelihood? these people's culture? they are. so much of human society was able to develop as it did BECAUSE of the cooperation between dogs and humans. if anything dog breeds and human culture are always affecting eachother and if you already have all your needs met it sure must be easy to scoff at people that need a dog for something purposeful and specific
Oh my GOSH what is with dobermans and wanting to twist and shake and spin when biting? That's my dogs favorite way to play with her toys even when it seems like she's just smacking herself 🤣
First answer: they are smol four legged scientists testing out the durability of their toys, running the data based on how hard they can slam their sides (makes me flinch when Ailum does this with his rubber flail toy)
Answer two: Probably the terrier esque desire to bite and thrash and kill. I recal seeing a a discussion/article on either @doberbutts blog or @malinwoman where it examines how dogs differed on mouth engagement based on the parent genes of the breed and how that played a role in engaging that breed in bite sport and things likes hunting. Some genes give you a bite and hold, other give you a bite/thrash. It’s the one of the few subjects I haven’t sunk my teeth into yet (excuse the pun) but there IS literature on it.
