rhyan doherty: new look
due to me being dumb and cleaning out my cc folder completely without thinking about it first, i lost a good amount of the cc i had been using for rhyan. so once i had loaded back up on cc, i gave her a slight makeover with the new content i had. she still cute tho, so it’s ok.
after a lot convincing, holden eventually talked rhyan into ditching the bar scene to do literally anything else than stand around and watch the sad scene at the rattlesnake unfold. she’d been unsure, an excuse immediately leaving her lips as to why she couldn’t, but of course he’d pointed out that it didn’t seem like she had anything better to do and he wasn’t wrong -- not that she’d admit that out loud though.
they walked to the park, casual small talk passing between them for awhile, before they started to share things about themselves that most wouldn’t reveal to a stranger they’d just met. it was odd, but there was a comfortable fimilarity with this man that rhyan hadn’t felt before. she didn’t even know his name, but yet felt like she could divulge little details about her past that she wouldn’t otherwise talk about.
minutes turned into hours as they talked and joked around, not paying attention to the warm sunrise setting in the distance.
holden: “thanks for making my night suck a little less.” rhyan: “thanks for not bringing me out here to kill me, i really apperciate that.” holden: “you wanna grab breakfast or something? my stomach is about to eat me alive.”
rhyan shook her head, her eyes drifting to the morning sun on the horizon.
rhyan: “can’t. i gotta be at work soon. i’ll see ya around though.” holden: “will you at least tell me your name?” rhyan: “nope.”
she slid gracefully off the picnic table and gave him a wave goodbye and a tiny salute before turning her back to him and heading straight for home.
before she headed out for the evening, rhyan stopped by the fountain in the small square outside her house. she fished a penny out and gave it a long hard look before tossing it into the clear water. as she watched it sink to the bottom, she whispered her wish, “let this fresh start be a good one. things can’t go back to the way the use to be, they just can’t.”
buying a house isn’t cheap, ryhan knew that when she took off on her own, but the fresh start was more than worth the heavy toll it would take on her bank account. all she needed was a job, something she could do to provide for herself and the new life she was starting.
but which would she pick? her choices were endless and she could do whatever she wanted, so where exactly should she even start?
though just freshly settled into her new home, rhyan took it upon herself to explore her surroundings and see what treasures were waiting about. there wasn’t much. a few plants here and there held empty branches that swayed sliently in the warm afternoon breeze, but that seemed to be about it.
it was only until she tiptoed across the street, sliently sliding onto her neighbors property, did she see a rock with highly collectable crystals spouting from its surface. with a satisfied smile, she immediately began to work away at it, knowing full well it would hold something valuable within to help her line her pockets with a few extra simoleons.
kallie: promise that you won’t be a dipshit and get into trouble, ok?
killian: [ scoffs ] i can’t promise you that, kal.
kallie: then at least promise me you won’t get yourself killed?
killian: i promise.
kallie: i gotta go, tony and the kids will be waiting on me. i love you and i want you to remember you can always call me if you need anything.
killian: [ groans ] i know, i know.
kallie: ok i’m going now. be safe, brother.
kallie: do you ever miss them, kil?
killian: of course i do.
kallie: they’d hate this place, ya know.
killian: mhm, i know. that’s why i chose it.
kallie: [ sighs ] even after they’re dead, you’re still contradicting them.
