Mamihlapinatapei - The look between two people in which each loves the other but is too afraid to make the first move.

Eyes tell a lot about a person -- not just in physicality like color and shape, but in which strings they tug and pull at in your chest when you look into them. Sometimes, a look means nothing; sometimes, a look means everything.

Kou is starting to catch on to this phenomena.

They look at each other a lot. It’s always been like that -- a couple of friends, looking at each other for the sake of communication and companionship, and thinking nothing of it. There’s nothing pulling at Kou’s chest then other than the familiar delight that comes with friendship, but things have a way of changing without warning. This was no exception.

The change is sudden and it’s noticeable, because now buzzing tension filters between them when their eyes meet. At first, Kou thinks it might just be him -- but there’s something about Daisuke’s eyes that lead him to think otherwise, even with the possibility of simple wishful thinking in mind.

He doesn’t say anything about it, though.

Each shared glance and looks pulls at the strings of his heart, playing a concerto that switches keys from major to minor, from happy warmth to painful yearning that he can’t bring himself to address. It goes on like this for days, weeks, months -- a year, even, and the unbearable crescendo only comes to a halt when they’re suddenly countries apart by grace of the reality that is growing up and moving on.

Not that Kou does move on.

He tries -- he tries -- and he’s a good enough actor to even convince himself that he has. There are no fluttering notes in his chest anymore, brought on by physical distance that spans a year and the decrescendo of communication to silence that’s lasted the better part of six months; then it’s all brought back to the surface with startling force.

Alcohol is clouding his judgement but clearing his mind, and he replays their symphony to Shun in a chorus of quiet tears and loud regrets.

I miss him.

                   I think he hates me.

                                                     I love him, you know.

Shun is the conductor that sets the tempo back in order. A wave of her baton, and suddenly Kou is by her side in a foreign airport, clutching a suitcase and looking around in mild confusion. You need a vacation is what she’d said, but now she’s saying they can’t go to their hotel just yet and won’t stop looking at her phone. He’s about to question why again, but then --

Then their eyes meet.

Daisuke is standing only feet away, phone in hand and a dumbfounded look on his face, and Kou can feel the allegro of his heart against his chest as strings left untouched for so long are suddenly pulled again. Shun’s content laughter sounds from beside him, but to Kou, it’s lost -- drowned out by the sound of the all too familiar concerto, major in key and warm in sound.

As Daisuke starts to approach, their eyes stay locked. He doesn’t smile, but in his eyes, Kou recognizes the same look they used to share together.

Kou does smile.

my opinion on;

character in general: SHUN is such a joy. I might be a little biased because I’m such a sucker for female OCs, but Shun is just really well-developed and well-rounded. She’s charming and loud and funny but she’s also flawed, and I just love seeing that in characters. I really appreciate it when characters have traits that readers can really sink their teeth into, and Shun is so, so fun to learn and discover more about. I really, really appreciate Shun’s presence in my life, and I’m just in awe of how much depth she has.how they play them: Balance is really important in characters & RP and everything, and Lily is a star when it comes to both having fun and causing pain. There’s never too much joking posts or too much angst and heartbreaking headcanons, but it always seems to be perfectly rounded out. I really appreciate the effort that she’s put into her character and the way that Shun is presented: she’s more than her tragic backstory or her dorky attitude or her want (? or is it Lily) for a relationship – she’s all of those and she’s human and alive.the mun: LILLY is such a pleasure to have around, both on my dash and on skype (though we’re both those people who might go weeks without talking). You know, I normally hate excessive ooc just because it clogs my dash but when it’s Lily it’s really enjoyable, even, and the ‘open dialogue’ that you keep with your followers is actually wonderful? I’m super glad to have you around and to call you a friend.

follow them: Yes………. and am made perpetually aware of it.rp with them: Yes!! as much as possible.want to rp with them: always fsldship their character with mine: HMHM I have thought about it, actually. I think that Shun and Yu could work with some development, because I always think that Yu goes nicely with people who are more outgoing than he, but at the same time I think that they’re really excellent friends & would be great wingmen as well. For now I ship them mostly platonically, but there’s definitely a possibility of chemistry between them.

what is my;

overall opinion: A stellar person portraying a stellar character honestly. A well-kept blog and more positivity than I know what to do with. Definitely someone who I would follow and interact with on all my blogs and would recommend to anyone looking for quality and happiness. Super random comment but I love your integration of Japanese onto your blog. It’s something that I can really appreciate because it shows both some awareness and some … idk. It really brings things together just to have extra details like Shun’s name in kanji and stuff. I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate having you and Shun around, Lilly.
