I went to see Dolares Huerta talk today, it wasn’t what I expected.

She of course is still lively as ever, even though I think she seems too chummy with the Democratic establishment.

She told us to go vote, to call our congress people, to do something. In that sense she reminded me of Nike.

I wanted to scream out “NO!” and I wanted to ask her what she thought of violence, I’m sure her thoughts on violence are hidden deep in some corner of a library or the internet.

I was so dissappointed, was it all just a strategic move? The people love her but they don’t love her enough to do it. It’s not their fault is it? After all they voted, and if they didn’t their relatives did, and it still didn’t change anything. Maybe that’s why even though she came alive with fire we could not fathom coming alive to the words “vote”.

Alice Bag came out, the people were united, and yet it still felt hopeless. It was not an event which produced the kind of hope one finds out there, marching.
