Dolichosuchus cristatus
By Alexandra Damjonat at @cheetahtrout!
Name: Dolichosuchus cristatus
Name Meaning: Crested long crocodile
First Described: 1932
Described By: Huene
Classification: Dinosauria, Saurischia, Eusaurischia, Theropoda, Neotheropoda, Coelophysoidea
Aha! The first of the Neotheropods. However, this little dinosaur has very little known about it. It is from the Late Triassic, about 208 million years ago in the Rhaetian age. It is a member of the Coelophysoids, however it could very well not be a real genus as only one bone has been found, but its resemblance to Dilophosaurus has made it listed as a Coelophysoid. It was found in Germany in the Lower or Middle Stubensandstein formation.
