( 🐰 ) || He was no more than 13 when he first encountered a demon.
The boy was scared, the sounds of screaming and the smell of blood startling him from his slumber. He clambered out of bed and down the stairs, having to cautiously step over what had seemed like an odd lump upon one of the steps (which turned out to be a corpse) on his way down to avoid tripping and falling.
Due to the cover of night, Oz could barely make out what was going on, though a pair of eyes watching him from afar had certainly caught his attention for the time being.
( 🐰 ) || "Hello? Who's there?" He called out into the night, the walls of the main hallway giving off a small echo.
( 🎩 ) || "Master Oz!" Gilbert cried out, arms wrapping around Oz as a breath of relief parted his lips. "I'm so glad you're safe! That monster killed Missus Kate!"
( 🐰 ) || Emerald eyes widened upon hearing that news, and Oz attempted to push his attendant away as he turned to head back up the stairs. "What? Impossible! Has it gotten to Ada yet?"
( 🎩 ) || "I think your sister's fine, now come on! We have to escape this place before that thing eats us, too!"
( 🐰 ) || And the two of them raced out the front door and into the night, though Oz couldn't help but feel that same burning gaze watching him from afar. He wondered if Gil had sensed it, too. 🌙 unprompted // @dollmuses // always accepting!
EVEN AS SHE SPENT DECADES AMONG TEMPLE’S FOLLOWERS, Kokushibo did not truly feel much affection for humans. An odd sort of almost-fondness for those within her husband’s cult, of course, but the rest? Her hunger drove her most, seeking to satisfy that appetite, the need to eat, and little thought were given to them beyond that.
Not unless they proved interesting enough. Such a thing were rare. Humans never really changed at all, and Kokushibo felt she had seen most of whatever they had to offer.
She sees the two flee. It could prove troublesome, if unwanted attention were drawn...
Decision made simply. Two more would not hurt, two more would mean little when the rest of them had already fallen.
Kokushibo walks silently, though she is not perfectly hidden--her eyes and skin glow softly in the moonlight, eyes that watch panicked heart beats like the flutter of a rabbit’s heart. There is no need to hide, they don’t seem to have noticed her yet.
There isn’t a need to hurry, or to view them any differently. Perhaps it would be kinder to finish this quickly; she held no interest in dragging out hunts. There’s only so much time before the sun rises once more.
“--you needn’t run further.”
As if she were giving them permission to stop, distance closing between them.
“I will make this quick, so be good.”
