Got inspired by this post my lovely mutual reblogged so here’s a little Drabble :p vendetta Leon in mind but can be read as any
Warnings: gun mentioned, kinda angsty, uhhhh that’s it i think?
The winds howled outside causing tree branches to rattle against your window. The moon cast a white glow across the plains of your neighborhood. It was late, damn near midnight and Leon was no where to be found.
Where the hell had he gone? You had fallen asleep together after dinner and a movie. It was date night, after all. You knew Leon’s job could pull him away at any moment in time, but, wouldn’t he have woken you up and said goodbye?
Honestly, you loved the man with all your heart but he was so dense sometimes. Leon had a dangerous job, you both knew that. And you could cope with him being gone for weeks at a time—well, mostly—but leaving without a goodbye? That hurt.
What if something happened on the field? What if he got hurt? Or worse? What if you never saw him again? What if you never got a chance to say goodbye?
Anxiety starts to climb up your throat like sour bile. You shake your head to clear your thoughts. ‘No, Leon wouldn’t do that.’ You reassure yourself as you continue searching your apartment for any sign of him.
Is he in the kitchen making a drink? Nope, the lights are off and the fridge is closed.
In the living room fighting off nightmares? No, and part of you is relieved that maybe his past isn’t haunted him now like it does every other night.
In the bathroom taking a late night shower? Waters off and so are the lights.
Where the hell could he be? You start to worry once more. Paranoids thoughts spiraling in your mind as you fall down a rabbit hole of ‘what if’s. Images of Leon in different horrific situations flash in your mind.
What if he was taken? Kidnapped by rival agents? What if some bioweapon broke loose and took him? What if…he just wanted to leave? What if he didn’t wanna be with you anymore?
The sound of glass breaking pulls you from your trance. A sharp gasp escapes you as you turn to where the sound came from, your bedroom. Taking a shaky deep breath you quietly scurry over to the safe in the living room. Putting in the code and pulling out a spare gun Leon keeps hidden incase of an emergency.
You check the clip and make sure it’s loaded. Going through the steps just as Leon taught you. You keep the gun aimed at your bedroom door as you carefully approach. Maybe it’s Leon coming back from wherever he was. Or maybe it was whoever took Leon coming back for you.
Either way, you were determined not to end up someone’s victim. You carefully push open the bedroom door. The hinges creak quietly as it slowly swings open. At first glance everything looks normal—until you notice the broken window and small trail of blood leading to your closet.
You aim the gun at your closet door. Your heart thumping erratically in your chest. “I have a gun. Walk out slowly with your hands up.” You sternly say. Keeping a cold facade despite the fear lacing your nerves.
The only reply you receive is a low growl, more animalistic than human. The door slowly creaks open, you’re not able to make out anything in the darkness. Until, out of the shadows steps a beast.
Thick black fur, blue piercing eyes. It towers over you with a deep, rumbling growl. It snarls at you, teeth bared and eyes cut as it looks down at you like a predator finding meek prey. The fur on its arm is matted with blood, it likely injured itself coming in the window.
‘This can’t be real. Werewolves aren’t real.’
The thoughts legitimacy starts to waver as you take in the beast in front of you. Your eyes start to well up with tears. Is this what happened to Leon? Was he taken and mauled by the beast in front of you?
Your grip on the guns falters causing it to go clattering onto the floor. You take a step back, stepping on a piece of broken glass. The pain surging through your foot causes you to fall back onto the floor.
You look up at the beast in fear, searching its eyes for any sign of mercy. You think to yourself ‘This is it.’ And just when you brace for impact—eyes squeezed shut and your body tense as a coil—something happens.
The sound of bones cracking and snapping fill the room, but they’re not yours. You keep your eyes shut, terrified as to what might come next. You hold your breath, praying to whatever deity that might be listening to have mercy when suddenly—
—You hear Leon’s voice. Your eyes shoot open and suddenly he’s there in front of you, the beast nowhere to be seen. Except he’s different from when you last saw him. His dark hair now accompanied by two fluffy ears. And tucked between his legs is a black fluffy tail.
Your mouth falls open but the words don’t come out. After all, what can you even say? Leon crouches down in front of you, slowly reaching his hands out. “Hey, it’s okay sweetheart. It’s me.”
He says calmly. You take in his full appearance, noticing a gash on his arm. It’s jagged, like it was made by broken glass. You look back up at him. Your breathing shaky and your eyes wide with a mix of fear and confusion.
“L-Leon..?” Your voice is shaky when the words finally fall. It only takes a moment before your instincts kick in and you practically throw yourself into his arms. Wrapping your arms around his neck as you sob into his shoulder.
“Shhh, you’re okay, baby. It’s alright.” He softly coos in your ear. His arms wrapping around you like steel bands despite the throbbing in his arm from the gash. “Leon, I-I—” You try to speak but the words fail you.
“I know, sweetheart. I know. I’ve got a lot of explaining to do..” Leon’s voice is filled regret as he speaks. He feels guilty for not only scaring you but from hiding this secret for so long. He thought he was protecting you but, it only seemed to hurt you in the long run.
He continues to hold you in his arms as you gradually calm down. Breathing in his familiar scent as a way to ground yourself. After a while he pulls back to look at you. Cupping your cheek in his hand as his thumb gently caresses your skin.
“I’m sorry..” He says ashamedly. “I should have told you a long time ago.” He presses a soft kiss to your forehead before pressing his against yours. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Your hands reach to frame his face. One moving to trace the edge of one of the fluffy wolf ears sitting atop his head. “It only scared me cause i didn’t know it was you..” You quietly say, voice hoarse from crying.
Leon leans into your touch. His tail wagging despite his best efforts to stop it. “I actually kinda like you like this.” You tease, fully petting his ears. “Yeah? Well you only get it when it’s a full moon so enjoy it while it lasts.” He retorts.
Okay that’s all I feel like writing hope you enjoy :3
