B-Team to the Rescue 20-26 Feb

"Save them!" Crag replied. "What else do you think? They could be in trouble and they might need us to save them!"

Domoban looked around as if he might find someone besides just the three of us. "Us? Save them? How would we manage to do that?"

"We're trolls, Domoban. We do what we have to when we have to save the people we care about. That's what we do."

"Yeah, but we're just us."

"They had the Sheriff. We have a little wee man. I don't know what could've stopped the Sheriff that we could beat."

"What happened to the Domoban that rushed into the forest to save us?"

"But those were just little things."

"You didn't know that when you ran in."

"I guess," Domoban admitted. "But you guys were in trouble, I heard you screaming."

"And they could be in trouble now," Crag replied."It's time to go rushing in and save them, Domoban. Do you think you can do that?"

The cobbler nodded. "Yeah. I think I can."

"Then let's go do it!"

Crag and Domoban began to ran down the shoreline and I did my best to keep up. Not only did they have much longer strides than I did, but they're feet also kicked up a lot of sand. I had to cover my face as I ran. When the sand eventually stopped hitting my face, I opened my eyes expecting to see I had caught up or that they had stopped. Instead it turned out I had fallen way behind. I tried to run faster so I could catch up, but they were too fast for me.

"Hey!" I yelled. "Wait up for me!"

After a few minutes of yelling, they finally heard me and came to stop. "What are you doing back there?" Crag yelled back.

They turned around to look at me, as I continued to try to catch up. "You guys are twice my size!" I yelled at them.

"Hurry up! We need to get going. If the Sheriff is in danger, we can't waste time with you screwing around."

"Screwing around?" I huffed. "You're twice my..."

But that was as far as I got because that was when I noticed something coming up behind them. "Twice our what?" Crag asked.

"Look out! Behind you!" I yelled, but I was too late. Crag and Domoban screamed as they were pulled backwards.

Vanishing Friends 2-8 Oct

We swam onwards. Some of us easier than others. Tam, whose suit propelled them forward, ended up towing the trolls behind them. But eventually we all got tired, even Pem. The city was much further away then we would have hoped. "Maybe we could go back and get another wagon?" Crag said.

"Another...what?" Pem asked.

"A transport," I said. "He wants another transport."

"Are you kidding me? Do you think they're going to let me take another one out? I barely had permission to take that one. The only reason I was allowed that one was because they wanted you all out of there so badly. Bringing you back will just get me in trouble."

"More trouble than dying out here in the middle of the ocean?" I asked.

"Yes. A lot more."

"Oh."

We kept swimming because what other choice did we have. We had been going for a few hours before someone noticed Crag was gone. "Where did he go?" I asked.

"I don't know," Toleuk said. "He was here one minute and then he wasn't."

"How long ago was that?"

"I don't know."

"When did you last see him?"

"Hard to say. It's not like there's a sun to tell the time down here."

"He was with us when we stopped," the Sheriff said. "Did he start swimming with us?"

"Wait," Tam interrupted. "Where are the other deputies?"

We turned to see that we were indeed a few men down. "Where did they go?" I asked. "Did anyone see them leave?"

"They wouldn't have just wandered off," the Sheriff said. "I know my deputies."

"Then where are they?" I asked.

And that's when the giant clamshell erupted from the ground, opened its shell, and enveloped Domoban, pulling him back under the ground. The Sheriff raced to save him, but he was much too late. The giant troll couldn't swim anywhere near fast enough. But he wouldn't give up. The Sheriff began to dig into the dirt. "There's no point," Pem said. "He's gone. The clammine's have him."

"You mean they're dead?" the Sheriff asked.

"Not necessarily," Pem replied. "That all depends on the Lowardens."

"You know who has my deputies?"

"You know where the blip is?" I asked. "You know where Gnomenasher is?"

"I wasn't certain before, but there seems to be no doubt now. This is Lowardenite technology. And that is the last place we wanted to go."
