A Taste (QuiMaul)

A little gift fic for the absolutely wonderful @domobird who, due to reasons that are fully my fault, I am currently an unacceptable distance away from. I hope you enjoy this, dear. It was actually really fun to write, and totally got away from me ^^”““

             Maul knows what he needs to do. He is ready. He has always known.

             Kill the Jedi.

             This is what he has been trained to do, what he has been raised to do, as far back as he can remember. He is ready.

             His boots strike the sand with a dull thud, his lightsaber bursting alight in his hands. As the crimson blade crackles to life, the Jedi barks something at the boy. The child hesitates, and the man yells again. That time it works, and the boy turns heel and flees across the sand.

             The Jedi turns, his own saber glowing green as the power Maul remembers Mother Talzen wielding.

             He is…nothing, like Maul expected.

             He is…beautiful. He reminds Maul of an old sense-memory, one he doesn’t quite trust to have been real, of life and warmth and green growing things.

             Maul falters. The Jedi notices the hesitation, and one brow rises. Curiosity. A challenge.

             When Maul still does not move, the Jedi calls out.

             “Who are you?”

             Maul’s lips move without thinking. “I am Darth Maul. I have been sent to kill you.”

             “Why?”

             “My Master orders it.”

             He wants to say, you are beautiful. He wants to say, you remind me of freedom.

             “Why have you not attacked me then?” the Jedi asks. There is caution in his gaze, but a growing curiosity as well.

             Maul hesitates again. (He had never hesitated before. It is a new sensation.)

             “I do not know,” he admits.

             He takes a step closer, and the Jedi does not step back, just watches Maul’s approach like a cat watching a larger dog. It sends a thrill up Maul’s spin. He wants.

             The Jedi is gorgeous, even like this. Maul wonders just how beautiful he would be lost in something else. In pain, or in pleasure.

             He wants.

             Another step. “Who are you?” he asked the Jedi.

             The Jedi tips his head to the side, hair catching in the breeze that whips and tangles in Maul’s robes. “Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.”

             Maul takes another step. Then another. Soon he is only a few paces away from the tall Jedi.

             The Jedi, Jinn, watches him with sharp eyes. Maul licks his lips, watches those eyes follow the movement. He grins.

             “I don’t think I will kill you today, Master Jinn,” he says, stepping closer still, until he is nearly nose to nose with the taller man. Two lightsabers hum in tandem as Jinn stares down at him, eyes wide with surprise, which only grows when Maul jerks forwards, catching the back of the man’s neck with his free hand and pulls him down into a kiss.

             It is not gentle. It’s rough, tongue and teeth, a battle for dominance that the Jedi seems determined to win even in his dazed state. And then, as abruptly as it began, it ends. Jinn pulls away, rough and startled, backing up a few steps as he swiped the back of his hand across his lips. He does not move fast enough to keep Maul from seeing the blood.

             Maul grins. Behind the Jedi, there is the roar of engines, and a ship appears, the ramp down and a young man leaning out.

             “Master!”

             Jinn looks to ship, and then back to Maul. Maul feels his grin grow into a smirk. He flicks his fingers in the direction of the ship, feel the young Jedi’s eyes on him.

             “Until next time, Jinn.”

             Oh yes, Maul thinks, as he walks Jinn run and then jump up onto the waiting ramp, and then vanish into the sleek silver ship which quickly vanishes from sight. There would be a next time.

             He licks his lips, tastes blood and Jinn there. It was intoxicating.

             He wanted more.

             He would get it.

1: Do you have a crush at the moment? I don’t think it’s exactly a crush anymore. We might as well be married, knowing each other for around 16 years, dating for 10, and living together for 8.

8: Would you date someone who's well known for cheating? Likely not. Trust is a big thing for me.

11: When you are dating someone do you believe in going on "breaks"? They aren’t ideal but we’ve done it before. I think this is something we try and avoid but we’re willing to do what we need to if the need arises.

18: What do you consider a deal breaker? I’m pretty easy going with most things. I think I require trust and patience the most. I’m also rather fond of intelligence but that isn’t much of a deal breaker unless they don’t have an open mind. Oh, and assholes. Being a decent human being is required.

21: Do you think people who have dated can stay friends? Yes, absolutely! Though it is up to the people in question if such a thing happens or not.

28: Do you think long distance relationships can work? I think my relationship is proof that they can and do. 

31: Would it bother you if your partner suffered from any mental illness? I don’t see why it should. We still love people when they have a cold or the flu. I understand it could be taxing for yourself or the partner but some things are beyond worth it.

38: Do you enjoy love films? I don’t watch many of them and even less are actually appealing to me. That isn’t to say there aren’t one or two out there I enjoy.

41: What's your imagination of a "perfect date"? Somewhere between going out and doing something you can’t do every day or staying home and playing games.

48: What's your favorite love song? I don’t really have one? Does L Bomb by Anti-Queens count?

51: Would you rather date someone who's rich but a douchebag or someone who's poor but a nice guy? Please refer to #18. Being a decent human being is required.

58: Are you the "dominant" or the "submissive" part in a relationship? I believe I am what is referred to as a “switch.” It depends on my mood.

61: Who's more important: Your partner or your family? My family is varying levels of complicated. My partner is more important but there are some family members I’d go out of my way for. Those family members are ones that wouldn’t make me choose. Family that does or would can see themselves to the inside of an operating wood chipper.

I’m a big believer in second chances, so I want to say yes, but if they’ve done it a lot I would definitely be wary.

I mean, depends on how we’re defining “hooked up” but I’m gonna say zero.

22: Do you think people should date their friends? 

Yes! I mean, don’t just date your friends for laughs, but I genuinely believe the best relationships are built on solid friendships, so why wouldn’t you date your friends????

35: Could you be in a relationship without sex?

Probably? I don’t think it would be an issue for me, but I also think it’s the kind of situation I would have to be in to know how I would feel about it?

13. Candy corn or Popcorn Balls? Is neither a choice? I never cared for candy corn as a kid and I don’t eat much popcorn unless it’s kettle corn. Y’know, the extra unhealthy stuff. So I guess if it was the right kind of popcorn ball.

23. Have you ever broken into an abandoned house or building? Technically... yes. At least it counts in my mind. I slipped into my dad’s house during the week after he died. It was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I’ve ever experienced.

33. Ever made a potion of any sort? Do crazy mixed drinks that just might rot your insides count? Because I’ve done that.

43. What are you dressing up as this year? I’m ashamed to say I haven’t had the energy to dress up for the past couple years. I have costumes and I’ll likely grab something together but there is a certain joy in scaring the kiddies as is.
