Three Yuge Esoteric #TradMat Moods from Cape Breton
Don Domanski, from the Cape Breton Book of the Dead
Don Domanski, from the Cape Breton Book of the Dead
"fetishes of the floating world", don domanski
I remember what the bestiary said that allowed the deer of slender sadness to take my voice [...] I lay on lichens worn clean by whispers close to the ground so that I was the nothingness there...
Don Domanski, What the Bestiary Said
under the child-rearing stars beneath the welkin petalled with black flames
there are times when the self is inconceivable
when whatever was made of mind and body is unmade laid to rest
a bit of grey ash on a scry's prophetic thermal
here deep in the forest in the stillness of ecocide
in the quietude between spruce trees when absence redeems you
when the world is rising and leaving
when you've forgotten your name
forgotten the wistful knot of air that is your spirit
that's when the ancients say you'll reach the bottom of things
and start upwards again on the borings of an ascent
beyond the grief of your infirmities that's good medicine
the ache of return outside the self
the winged offspring of your cells pressing flight
a dark drop of genesis for the soul's shudder and climb.
Don Domanski
I tend my fire a little lip at flame's end a little curl of speech turned to smoke and ash something redemptive in the burning wood almost spoken of in the moment almost heard
