This is the weapon of the ENEMY. We do not NEED it. We will not USE it.
I asked my family and my two best friends to use they/them pronouns for me and they agreed! I thanked them for being supportive and one of my friends points out the obvious truth of it:
"We're just showing you common decency"
That's really what more people need to realize. Using someone's correct pronouns is just common decency. It's really simple to do, and everyone should be shown this basic kindness.
If someone calls me he/him, I feel like a piece of me is being taken away. Think about what happens when you purposely misgender trans people on a daily basis.
MIS-GENDERING SOMEONE IS DENYING THEM A HUMAN RIGHT NOT A PRIVILEGE
This Thing I Wrote
I wrote a thing, and in this thing that I wrote, I have a gender-neutral character who uses ze/zir pronouns. And people have commented on this thing that I wrote specifically about how they didn’t like the pronouns. One person even went so far as to say that the fic was painful to read because of the pronouns.
I would just like to say that I legitimately give no fucks about how you feel about my use of pronouns. Sure, this character doesn’t exist anywhere but in my head, but ze has decided that ze is gender-neutral and it’s rude AF to mis-gender. I don’t do it IRL and I will not do it in fiction, either. And if THAT is the comment that you’re going to leave on the thing that I wrote, I would rather you not leave the comment at all. Because seriously, what the fuck?
"Am I using the right pronouns" I think to my self in any situation "better switch to they/ their"
