I Can’t Ship Tcest in RotTMNT

Warning: tcest, a lot of anti-rottmnt, don’t like don’t read

I love tcest, namely Leo x Raph and Donnie x Mikey, especially in the 2012 TMNT series. But, in RotTMNT, the turtles are so....different. Raph is freaking huge first of all, and he’s the leader and the eldest now, and that kinda irks me. A big part of Raph’s story arc was growing to accept Leo as the leader, and I just, realistically, can’t see Raph as a leader. A second-in-command? Definitely. A leader? No. And Leo. Oh, good God, Leo. They’ve done away with all his personality traits! He used to be the eldest, the responsible one, the sensible one, the one who kept his wilder brothers in line. Yeah, he had his dorky moments, but overall he was the poster boy for the-one-left-in-charge-of-their-siblings-when-the-parents-aren’t-home. Now he’s basically Mikey 2.0, and we don’t see anything of his old personality. It honestly turns me off his character altogether in RotTMNT. Mikey is mostly perfectly depicted, I think, and his design is pretty consistent with the designs of previous versions of Mikey. Donnie.....has such a weird structure now, all square-ish and hard edges. Plus Donnie is more diabolical mad scientist in this one than he ever was in the previous versions, but otherwise I guess he’s fine. Overall, my real issues are with the weird character designs and the characterisations of Leo and Raph. I can’t possibly ship any of these characters together when they don’t even look like the TMNT I grew up loving! They seem so out-of-place, and it’s hard to ship them when they all have roughly the same personality (AKA a more annoying version of Mikey’s personality), so there’s no balancing or clashing or any dynamic between the personalities because they’re all basically the same personality, and it irks me. So.....yeah, I just can’t ship any of them together when their basic personalities are so out of whack.

As for the ages.....like, we always had this set sequence in mind: Leo’s the oldest, Donnie’s the second oldest, Raph’s the second youngest, and Mikey’s the youngest. Not proper age differences of course, just that Leo hatched first, then Donnie, then Raph, then Mikey. To flip that around and make Raph the eldest is pretty jarring to me, especially since they make them all different turtles AND different ages. Having Leo being anything but the eldest and having Raph be the eldest is just hard to swallow and jarring as hell. And them all being different species of turtles means they’re not blood-related, which just seems so strange to me, cuz they’re blood brothers, and that’s always been the case. And having Raph be physically bigger than the other three is throwing off their balance as a team (plus ninjas are supposed to be lean and light on their feet, not built like pro-wrestlers), and it seems weird. I just can’t see them as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, because the hallmarks of their personalities and characters are just....gone. Shipping Leo and Raph together wouldn’t be actually shipping our Leo and our Raph together. It’d just be shipping two mutant turtles with the same names together, and I just can’t ship like that. So yeah, I can’t ship any of them together in RotTMNT.

But hey, if you can ship them together in the new series and if you like the new series, then good for you! This is just my opinion and my reasoning.

For DTIYS from twiiter but I decied to add a little story. Once Mikey found in an unfamiliar place that looked like a lair, but not quite. Realizing that he is tired, he found small room where he could take a nap.

He decided to think about it all tomorrow,

The only ships I actually ship out of all of these are Leo/Raph and Donnie/Mikey though….what can I say, I just love their chemistry and the way they, despite everything, respect and admire and love and care about each other in different ways! Leo and Raph fight constantly but obviously love and admire each other and just need to understand each other more, while Donnie and Mikey only bicker occasionally (Donnie’s actually the one who gets annoyed or exasperated sometimes, Mikey’s as blissfully oblivious as always), and obviously care about each other and admire each other’s strengths and just need Donnie to stop underestimating Mikey.

These two pairs are amazing, and I can 100% see them becoming endgame (obviously not visibly in any canon version cuz those are all for kids and probably wouldn’t make incest openly canon, but in the story itself I can see it happening in the shadows, secretly, until both pairs find out about each other and then feel more at ease in their respective relationships, and then April and Casey find out, and while initially their human sensibilities kinda make them feel a bit weirded out about the incest thing, they get over it and become their #1 supporters, and then Master Splinter reveals that he knew about their mutual feelings all along, before they even started dating, and that he doesn’t mind as long as his sons are happy, and then they’re all happy......wow, this got long, I should wrap this up :3).

Anyway, Leo/Raph and Donnie/Mikey are my OTPs! Thanks for asking!
