though it was easy to forget with all the recent chaos, it was still summer, which meant that new rome’s children were out of school and spending more time at camp jupiter to train.
after effectively demonstrating to a wise-cracking camper why wearing armor was important and why weapons were not to be fooled around with, and making said camper’s eyes glisten with unshed tears in the process, alabaster adjusted his grip on his sword and nodded to the group who was now watching him in silence. first lessons with new groups of kids was always tough, especially when many of them discovered that they were demigods only a few months ago because of the recall. most of them were not used to showing respect the way that the romans expected of them, and while alabaster was sympathetic, he also knew that while the gods were still not responding to them—they could be in danger at any moment.
“who wants to help demonstrate what we’ve learned today?” alabaster asked the group of campers with a kinder voice than the one he had been using when he rebuked the camper.
