Iris and Linda are somehow the most chaotic. Maybe it’s just Lois’s influence in my life, but you can’t convince me a reporter married to a superhero isn’t insane.

They have monthly family dinners, which private Chef Dawn uses to try new recipes.

They have several family group chats—one for family logistics, one for hero logistics, one for memes and shit talking.

Lian is an honorary member of the family BEFORE she and Jai are dating. Since Roy will occasionally have a work thing that goes overnight/weekend long. She’s always welcome.

Jai and Irey have made the most unhinged Midwestern recipes they got from some friends. They are also the only ones who eat chili wirh cinnamon rolls.

First time Mel met the whole family, she expected so much formality and like subtle digs. Nah, she was pulled into playing Ninja with with both sets of twins, their moms, and Bart while barry and Wally grilled.

They are a family BURSTING with love for each other

“Yes, sweet boy?” Mel looks over at her son, smiling softly as he toddles toward her. Holding up a familiar plushie.

“Dada!”

“Yes, Barty,” She nods, lifting him up, “That’s your daddy.”

As if summoned, the front door swings open, her husband strolls in. Bart squeals seeing his father, leaning in his mothers arms precariously. In a crack of lightning, Donny’s there to catch him.

“Hello, trouble,” Donny grins, kissing his son’s head, then his wife. “Hey, baby, you have a good day?”

“Well, someone took an extra long nap, so it’s been an busy afternoon.” Mel plays with Barty’s fiery hair. Barty wiggles out of his father’s arms, toddling back to his toys. Mel watches with a smile. How did she get such a beautiful boy? Warm arms wrap about her waist, a chin resting on her shoulder.

“What sounds good for dinner?” He asks, smiling as she relaxes against him.

“Dawn’s coming over in a bit. She’s bringing food.”

“Ever think we take advantage of my chef sister?”

Mel snorts, “She provides dinner in exchange for stealing our son. It’s a fair trade, Allen.”

“I love how you say my last name like it’s not yours too.”

That being said, i don’t think Donny and Mel could, in good conscious, have another child when Bart’s little. They know their time with him is limited, and made the decision to not have another child to focus more on Bart. They didn’t want another child to feel ignored or unwanted. After Bart was taken, it hurt too much to think about another child.

Circling back: Bart definitely looks at Milagro as his little sister. Like. Part of why he fell in love with Jaime is seeing him being a great big brother. He could tell that Milagro looks up to Jaime and Jaime’s fiercely protective of his baby sister.

Once he and Jaime are dating, Milagro (who’s maybe 12-13) interrogated him on why he thinks he should date Jaime. She wrote the questions down and everything. She might say she approves then, but Bart knows she really does approve when she falls asleep leaning against him during a movie.

As she gets older, Milagro and Bart text all the time and send each other memes. He’s definitely had to be a model for an outfit she designed. They have a bunch of inside jokes that not even Jaime understands.

So Bart was 14 and Donny was 16 when Bart showed up in the past

It was really awkward when Donny dated girls that, y’know, weren’t Bart’s mom.

“Dude!” “IM YOUR KID OKAY??”

They both have anxiety and panic attacks (part of their time as heroes). There’s an unspoken bond of when one of them has a panic attack, the other leaves some food and water for them.

Donny learns to accept a lot of weird things from Bart.

Once they’re older, and Donny met/married Mel, they still all each other friends.

When Donny and Mel have Baby Bart, Donny’s a super involved dad.

Like Mel has to remind him, laughing as she does, that she’s there too.

“This is gonna hurt...” Mel murmurs, dabbling at the cut on her boyfriend’s face with a damp rag.

“I can take the punch, I can take the repair.” Donny grunts. Her childhood bedroom feels wrong for this. Wrong for him to be here. All the joy he brings her doesn’t belong in this room that brings her so much...emptiness. Looking up as something hot hits his face, he sees the tears rolling down her face. “Baby...”

“This is my fault.” She murmurs, throat tightening. “I shouldn’t have...he did this because I...I...”

“Hey,” Donny takes the rag from her, taking her hands to pull her closer, “Mel, baby, I promise this wasn’t your fault. Not in the least bit. He doesn’t get to talk to you like that....say those things about you...He doesn’t.”

“He’s done it before.”

“That was before. Not now. Not ever again.” He kisses her hands, “What can I do? How can I help you?”

“I just...” She swallows hard, trying to find her voice, “I don’t want to be alone right now.”

“Well...as long as I’m alive....I won’t let you be alone. Not when you need me. I promise.” He brushes a curl from her face, “I love you. With everything in me.”

“I love you too...” She lets him pull her face down, lets him brush his lips against hers, lets everything about him consume her, keep her safe from the emptiness around them.

Some headcannons about Mel & Donny when they went to the 31st century?

Sure!

Donny was curious about when she grew up, but tried not to push her too hard

She thought it was easier to just show him

They were only supposed to be there two days, to see her favorite places. Let her get some closure

Her father got wind she was there and had them taken in

They’re locked in her childhood bedroom, aka the last place Mel wants to be. 

Donny hates seeing his strong willed, stubborn girlfriend completely shut down. It breaks his heart every damn time he remembers it.

Her father insists they have dinner together, and sends them clothes. Mel puts the dress on without complaint, and it’s not the kind of dress Mel would get caught dead in. 

Mel shuts down being around her father, taking every criticism and backhanded insult he throws at her

Donny snaps and tells her father to shut the hell up, that he’s worse than any of his desendants, and he can’t believe someone as amazing as Mel came from a bastard like him.

Donny got his ass kicked by security as a ‘warning’  

Mel pleaded with her father to stop it and he said it was her fault for involving an Allen.

Donny’s faced worse for sure in the field, but Mel hates her father more than ever for hurting him. 

That’s the day she snaps. Using her old laptop, she leaks a bunch of evidence that proves her father is hella corrupt. 

Not long after, she and Donny get their asses home safe

They don’t move from their bed for nearly a week, except for bathroom and food. 

They mostly just lay there and talk.

Donny makes damn sure she knows how fucking proud of her he is. And how much he loves her.
