Mary Salvatore was never one to act out and disobey rules, not in Elena's classroom, so when she had to first lower the girl to yellow on the warning scale, the brunette thought it was just a fluke and it wouldn't continue to happen. And because it was so random, so different, she even pulled Mary aside while everyone was in the library finding books for the week and asked what was happening, if it had to do with something in the family or something along those lines because those would cause even the best of children to act out, but all she received was an apology. Naturally she thought that meant Mary was done being belligerent for the day, but she was far from right. And it killed her to put the girl in the red, but she did, which meant when her father came to pick her up, she would have to talk to him about it. And they had never met, unlike the other children who had parents that they brought to the parent teacher night, Mr. Salvatore had been busy, so Elena never got to tell him what a pleasure Mary was in class, and now she didn't even get to tell him that unless she slid it in during their conversation when he came to pick her up inside as Elena asked on the phone when she said she needed to speak to him, rather than letting her out to him as usual. It was disappointing.

But still she waited.

Every other student's parents had came and left with their children, leaving Elena alone with the girl as she waited for her father whom had a busy job time to time, which was fine. She never minded watching the girl for a little bit, she just had to keep it on the down low so the corporation didn't come into it. Kneeling down in front of Mary, she smiled and zipped her jacket after retying her shoes. "Are you sure everything's all right? It's not like you to be disruptive, little one." Her words were soft as she looked into the child's blue eyes while she bobbed her head with a simple yes. "All right, well, I hope it doesn't happen again. I didn't like having to put you in the red and I don't like that I have to talk to your father about you in this kind of light when you have been wonderful otherwise, but you understand I have to, right?" Hearing footsteps on the laminate as Damon walked in, Elena got up carefully, stumbling a bit as Mary smiled with an "I understand." Turning around, Elena faced the man and took a step back after seeing him, almost falling again. Collecting herself, the brunette put her hand out for a shake, "Hi, I'm Elena. Miss Gilbert, Miss Gilbert, and you must be Mary's father. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, finally, really."
