what are you most excited to see in the new Star Wars canon? If they rewrite Plagueis' backstory? Jump into Old Republic era? Zeb and Kallus hooking up??
TBH with you I would love to STOP talking about plagueis and his fuck buddy sheev, IN ALL HONESTY, im tired of them being the reason for EVERYTHING.
I wouldnt mind a nod to the OR no lies. Like a slight head tilt saying like “since the madolorians wars” or “theres history of a jedi civil war” Id probably scream in happiness. Just to make MYSELF (revan) canon.
But really? I love the new shit. Innovation. I love that you can grow organs from bacta now. I love that Hux enginnered the bridge into the center covered area of the star destroyer because RIP ADMIRAL PIETT. I love that the new astromechs are cylindrical because, duh.
I want more stuff like that. I want more of rey telling Han Solo how to use the dashboard of a modified, advanced cockpit. I want to see new gadgets and gizmos and neat new ways that the world we know and love has learned from itself and grown.
Do you have a distinctly fangirl moment? (or top 3 if you're stuck!)
I mean, it’s more of a lifestyle choice than a moment, but I’ll do my best. :)
It was the day of Superbowl XXXVII, and I was nearly out of my mind with excitement. I had claimed the TV in our residence dorm (I shared the floor with 23 other people, but by the end of January, they were we well enough aware of my eccentricities not to get between me and the television when I wanted it), and was installed on the sofa with a blanket and two pillows (one for my head and one for screaming into), and by 7PM, I was ready to go.
Some backstory: the post-Superbowl slot is THE slot on Network Television. Channels use it to snag unwary football watchers and cash in on ad revenue. And this year, the slot went to a show I loved with my whole heart and soul, Alias.
Also of Note: In Canada, the Superbowl aired on Global. Alias aired on CTV. So while everyone watching in the US had to wait for ABC to finish the game, I got to watch the most important episode of live television in my life thus far at 7PM, which was when the show was usually scheduled for.
Reader, I cannot describe my emotions that night. When, at the end of the sturm und drang, Syd and Vaughn looked at each other. When, heedless of their observers and the ACTUAL ROOM BEING ON FIRE, they crossed the floor to embrace. WHEN THEY FUCKING MADE OUT RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM. Ye gods, it was perfect.
And then I had a very singular problem.
It was 8PM. The football was, like, at HALF-TIME. I had no one on the planet with whom I could share my pure and extreme glee.
I ran laps of the soccer field (in January. IN CANADA.) until the game was over, and then I watched the episode again, and then I could FINALLY go online (this was pre-most things, so we all hung out at a message board called Your Tax Dollars At Work), and lose my freaking mind with my internet friends.
For me, fandom has often been a mostly solo experience. It was only with the advent of Twitter and MSN/Gchat (and in bringing my LJ friends on to those platforms) that I really stared SHARING things as they were happening. I love that, and I love that I have money and time to do fannish things, but I will always, always remember that one awesome night, alone in my common room, with a perfect world, a perfect kiss, and an OH MY GOD ARE YOU KIDDING ME JAYBRAMS HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY DO THAT TO MY FRANCIE.

Honestly fuck the misdirection of the Battlefront 2 campaign. I havent played it and probably won't at this stage BUT if you want a good story that explores all that good empire grey area then Lost Stars by Claudia Gray is the ticket. Its kinda romeo & Juliet but star wars only it doesn't shy away from dealing with everyday empire folk (sorry for the long ass message lmao)
like you have no idea how excited my wife and I have been since they announced this game. I had literally just gotten back from Star Wars Celebration back in april and i’d settled in to watch the stream with her for the game reveal and we got super emotional??? because we’re both dark siders so we were beyond ecstatic to see not only an Imperial POV but that of a WOC elite stormtrooper commander?? everything that happens in the campaign completely contradicts the novel and Iden’s views in her years of service of the Empire and it’s honestly such a slap the the face of all the fans who were looking forward to something that wasn’t Rebel/Light Side oriented like 90% of SW media is
but thanks so much for the recommendation, the wife and I are always looking for new sw novels to devour so its definitely going on our list, we can only read Darth Plagueis so many times thats a lie its the best book and we will read it a billion times if you let us
