Ok I don’t make many original posts

But

I’m a renter now but I’m not allowed to change the lock on my door or change the hardware on the door

So

We got this thing

It’s from Walmart

It’s less than $20

It’s a grippy bastard

And it’s got the seal of approval from my family because even though I’m moving to a ‘nicer’ area. I’m still several hours from them. A single tiny person who is regularly asked about high school

So I do suggest y’all get one or something like this

Especially for my disabled folk who are renting or YALL who live with abusive family who don’t respect your space or people who rent rooms in homes

Doesn’t work well on carpet. But wood and tile are perfect

Unfortunately, the smart bomb lies behind a jammed door.

Door Jam

Pressed between two doors.

Literally. This isn’t figurative language.

I’m literally pressed between two doors.

One, the glass door with a view to the outside.

The other, wooden and white.

                        I’m stuck in here. Absolutely stuck.

Stuck with terrible news, that is.

“Terrible” is an understatement in fact, because

When a cleaver slices off a chunk of your heart,

The word “terrible” doesn’t do that moment justice.

                        I was on my way to sanctuary from the cleaver, when

I realized sanctuary is right here.

It exists between the forces of these two doors,

The support of cold metal and glass

Versus the weight of solid wood and white-chipped paint.

                        What’s the purpose of reality?

Should it crush us like a moth between hand and window?

I’d rather be cocooned here by wood and metal

Than have my wings catch on fire

From getting too close to its flame.

                        In this cocoon I’m transforming,

Transforming in order to adapt. I’m a bat now,

Using sonar to move, despite being blinded by reality.

                        I’m stuck here emotionally, because nobody so beautiful in life

Should die alone in a McDonald’s parking lot.

                        I’ll wait a moment longer, because when I push open the door, the gears in my head

Will have to turn again in time to reality’s relentless tick tock.
