my superstar team of losers that everyone hates
.... you know, I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know a whole lot about Gundam beyond tertiary, easy to access to details. I’ve never sat through any of the series, so the lore of Gundam is a mystery of me. I primarily reblog Gundam stuff because it looks cool.
But even keeping all that in mind, I have to ask.... what the ever loving FUCK???
Who thought this was a good idea?
Why was this made?
What even IS this???
There are no good answers for any of this, so I’m just gonna stare in open mouthed horror at... Doozybots.
I have found the Ultraman equivalent of DoozyBots.
Remember how Chaiyo Entertainment in Thailand has the rights to Ultraman-Ultraman Taro outside of Japan? Well here's their pilot for a Thailand-produced Ultraman animated series. Which is basically Ultraman Kids, only in CG and focusing on Taro because it's Chaiyo and they love Taro because reasons.
As far as I can figure out, they never got past the pilot, and it's probably for the best. There's no year listed but my only educated guess as to why this never went forward is probably due to this falling into the same category as Ultraman Millenium. By that I mean Things Chaiyo Weren't Supposed to Produce Unless They Wanted To Get Sued For Breaching Contract. Which they did.
I have to give Sunrise credit here.
They basically took Gundam and turned it into the most stereotypical representation of an early 90's American cartoon possible.
It would have sucked, but not immensely more so than the very American toons it was imitating to begin with.
If this had aired, even if it had lasted only a season or two, I pretty much guarantee they'd be people nostalgia-ing over it today.
((OOC: This abomination.))
((Apparently created by Sunrise for American audiences before Gundam was dubbed, this...abomination... is a proposed American adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8um1N78AhY))
