We will be releasing the prompts for this year’s Dorym Week soon, but in the meantime we have put together a playlist for your listening pleasure! Each song on the list is inspired by one of the prompts, so you can use them as prompts in their own right… or try to guess what the prompts are before we announce them!
Either way, we hope that you will enjoy this playlist.

Day One - Thunderstorms/Rain || Crossposted to AO3
Dew Point - Noun - the atmospheric temperature (varying according to pressure and humidity) below which water droplets begin to condense and dew can form
It’s an odd experience for Dorian; standing on a mountain and watching the clouds move slowly ever closer. Inescapable and steady in their movement, bringing with them rain and wind and… comforting familiarity. Watching the inevitable approach – being outside the mass of swirling mist that slowly blots out the sun – brought with it singularly unique emotions for the genasi. A pull he hadn’t felt so strongly in a long time.
Dorian leaned against the low wall at the edge of Zephrah and let himself miss the Squall. Behind him he could hear the clack of wooden training weapons punctuated by the barely-there footfalls of practiced air ashari, but before him stretched the whisper of wind and the smell of coming rain. He still wanted to explore the world, even more since he’d met his friends, but a feeling of melancholy homesickness still settled in his bones as he closed his eyes and turned his face toward the dimming sunlight.
He hadn’t even realized the sounds of the training yard behind him had petered off into nothing until a shoulder pressed against his hip and Orym’s voice said, “Are you alright?”
“I…” Dorian jerked himself back into alertness, roughly scrubbing at his eyes with the palm of his hand. When had he started crying? “I’m fine, really. Just waiting for the rain.”
Orym arched an eyebrow up at him, but thankfully didn’t pry. Instead he turned to follow Dorian’s gaze out towards the approaching storm. “You’re going to get soaked if you stand out here much longer. That cloud is bigger than it looks.”
He’s right, of course. The mist from the approaching storm had already started to drift for Zephrah, clinging to Dorian’s clothes and shimmering in his hair. It reminded him of standing at the edge of the Squall, willing himself to take just one more step. It reminded him of dew collecting on the ground in the mornings, a phenomenon he’d never seen before leaving home. It reminded him of Orym, a gentle but inevitable presence still stubbornly remaining by his side. Or maybe it was the other way around… perhaps their fates were too intertwined to really know anymore.
A low rumble of thunder rolled across the sky as the first fat raindrops fell to splash against stone. Dorian absentmindedly tracked the way one landed on his upturned face only to run down and soak into the collar of his shirt.
This, at least, was unlike the Squall. They were the storm, after all. Any rainfall was beneath them (figuratively and literally).
“I have to go back someday,” Dorian said quietly and without preamble. Orym knew him well enough to know where his thoughts had been.
“I know,” said Orym, leaning harder against his leg and wrapping one strong arm around his knee. “I’m coming with you. If you’ll have me.”
Dorian laughed, a small thing but a laugh none the less. “How could I not?” He reached down and laid his hand gently to the side of Orym’s face, laughing again as the halfling leaned into the touch like a needy cat. “That’s a long time off anyway, I’m still following you on your journey.”
Orym hummed, reaching up to press his hand against Dorian’s over his cheek. “I wonder sometimes, who’s following whom?” he said so quietly Dorian wasn’t sure he was meant to hear.
They fell into comfortable silence after that, leaning together against the low wall, Orym pressed warm against Dorian’s side as the rain poured down in refreshingly cold sheets. Eventually they will have to go inside and dry off, Orym’s mom probably has something warm to eat ready and waiting… but for now it’s just the two of them, Orym’s presence inescapable, steady, and welcome at his side.
Tbh wasn't initially going to participate, lot of mixed feelings about it but then I hit EXU Prime again and running a nostalgia party so... here it goes.
"You sleep ok?" Dorian asked as he sat beside Orym, gently nudging the halfling aside to make room in the bed.
"Yeah... yeah. At least, as much as I could get. You?"
"Yeah. I slept fine."
Orym nodded as he looked down, fiddling with his fingers. "I am... sorry for what went down yesterday. I should've been more watchful."
"What?"
"I put us all in danger because of my carelessness. If it wasn't for the random stranger... you would've... it's..."
"Not your fault." Dorian cut in. "What happened yesterday wasn't your fault."
"But it is! You should be blaming me! I should've never- Dorian, why are you laughing?" Orym asked in shock as the genasi doubled over in silent laughter.
"Oh no, it's not you. I mean, it kinda is but it just... Remember Niirdal-Poc?"
"Of course I do?"
"The one where I tried to steal some breakfast wine and you said that it wasn't my fault that I put you in danger the day before because moments like that happen? You try to do your best and hope it ends up well?"
"Yeah..."
"Sometimes, you should take your own advise."
"But I am supposed to be the guard! I am supposed to notice things!"
"And you didn't. And that's ok. You did your best. You were injured. You were tired and we've had some pretty long days before today. Tell me, is it my fault that I wasn't prepared for it? It had been my watch after all."
"No! It's not!"
"Then, Orym," he said, kneeling down before the halfling and cupping his cheek. "it wasn't your fault either. Or we take the blame equally. Up to you."
"Ok." he sighed out, not really happy with the logic because he knew it was true, just as true as his guilt was.
"We always face things together. Now and whatever comes next. You don't have to carry things alone or suppress them, alright? Fearne and I are always with you." Orym silently nodded at that as he leaned further into the touch.
