Cards Against Urbanity: Why don't you ship to CANADA??
#trbam Trees are important additions to street design because they help create a pleasant environment for pedestrians. They also provide a barrier of protection from cars to people in the case of crashes (the only one without street parking).
But engineering manuals still refer to them in terms of how they impact cars - in other words they are a 'fixed-object hazard' in case of crashes. These trees are involved in 50% of fatal FOH crashes. But is this the tree's fault? Or the driver's?
Engineers need to understand that trees make a place and protect those not in a car.
It is time to make sure that good street design is for more than just those in a car.
