When Hide is sick, Kaneki is by his side. The ghoul rubs his boyfriend’s back and holds back Hide’s hair as he heaves into the toilet. Kaneki will attempt to make his human porridge but after the first time, Hide politely encourages the ghoul to buy food instead. While he’s out shopping, Kaneki buys Hide every type of medicine that could help his boyfriend to a speedy recovery. He purchases the expensive brands because Hide deserves only the best. The ghoul will come back with bags of groceries. Half of which are peculiar foods that Kaneki “heard” helped cure illnesses. He also bought healing crystals and charms. The ghoul doesn’t mess around when it comes to Hide’s health. The human can’t help but feel tickled and touched. At the end of the day, Kaneki lays back against the headboard and lets Hide rest on him. He’ll silently read a book as he cards his pale fingers through Hide’s blond hair. The ghoul will smile upon hearing Hide’s soft snores and the way his fingers tighten their hold on Kaneki. It’s such a domestic scene.
