Who lets the dogs out? =D
There are many jackals in the Egyptian mythology (and many falcons too) and here are the fourth of them.
First line: Ophoïs, a very old god actually, from the very begining of the story. I see him as a broken guy, without jewells, without wealthy clothes, etc. And a friend of Set.
Second line: Anubis, the most important of the quartet, the god of “death” (actually, it’s Nephtys the goddess of death. Anubis is more the god of embalming, watching over the soul weighing ceremony). A tall god, with very long ears, and the wealthiest of them.
Third line: Duamutef, Horus’ son who is working with Anubis, watching on stomach of the dead. A young and strong god, short minded, always ready for a good fight, especially against Set (he actually brake his ear during a fight against him).
And the last one: Wapwawet. The only one who is not half-human. He’s a full and real dog, leading the dead to the courthouse of Maât.

I used many references to draw all this, references of Pharaoh dogs actually. Indeed, Anubis and co look more like hounds than jackals (and there is no jackals in the actual Egypt).
