Roy Chiu Appears at SOGO Anniversary Event, Talks about Crazy Fans
Today was the anniversary celebration of SOGO Department Store, and various celebrities like Roy Chiu, Cheryl Yang, Godfrey Gao, and Kirsten Ren (Selina's sister), made appearances. Roy, who was there to advertise for SHISEIDO, attracted the most fans, and the media who attended the event almost found themselves blocked off by the wall of people. During interviews, Roy's fans kept shouting his name that Roy had to gesture at them to calm down a little.
When asked if he had ever met a crazy fan before, Roy recalled that when he was in university, one fan sent him her diary, as well as various charms and Buddhist beads, and she even fantasized that Roy once followed her all the way to Tucheng in New Taipei City. Poor helpless Roy said he couldn't do anything but slowly reduce the interactions he had with this fan, so as to avoid provoking her to even more extreme measures.
When asked about the airing of WAKING LOVE UP (愛情睡醒了) in Taiwan, Roy attributed the low ratings to the dubbing, since Taiwanese viewers are used to hearing the original voices, and said that MY DAUGHTER (夏家三千金) had faced similar problems when it aired in Taiwan. The only thing he could do now, however, was to make sure he did well with his work at hand, i.e. filming MISS ROSE (螺絲小姐要出嫁).
According to Double Chao, who also attended the event and belongs to the same management company as Roy, the team spirit of the MISS ROSE cast is very good. The actors will often give each other suggestions about how to become better. He, Roy, and Megan Lai get along well and sometimes will discuss their characters as if they were real people.
