MUCH TO ALPHINAUD’S CHAGRIN BUT BEACH DATE!! WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?

It was 100% Kiri and Hien’s idea to go to the beach. Lighten up, Alphinaud, nobody’s gonna push you into the sea.... probably

As expected Alphinaud acts like the sea is going to swallow him and the only reason he relents is after seeing Kiri whisk Illya away to play in the water with her and Hien and Alphinaud feels left out. He still only dares to go up to hip height in the water though.

They build a sand castle, which Alphinaud is far too enthusiastic about.. but ultimately Hien is the winner who builds a sculpture almost as tall as himself, Kiri teases him and asks just where he’d acquired such skills from.

Illya and Kiri can breath underwater though so they dive into the water to see the coral and collect seashells!!! While Hien gives Alphinaud a pep talk about being more bold in his advances.

Unfortunately Illya and Alphinaud aren’t nearly as athletic or physically agile as Kiri and Hien, a volleyball match between the couples wouldn’t be fair.

So Kiri and Illya team up against the boys and win and Kiri is all too smug about it for the rest of the day. Helps that Illya is more active than Alphinaud even is. 

While Kiri and Hien go off to buy some food from the beach side stall, Illya and Alphinaud reads under some shade, but Illya ends up dozing off from all the excitement of the day.

♡ Niri/Thancred

No specific setting in mind.. Because I can imagine these four going on a tour / road trip!! Probably more applicable for a modern au but =3

Thancred borrows one of Alphinaud’s many cars and is the driver for the most part.

Illya and Alphinaud are a couple I associate very strongly with loving to see new sights and experience new things and I imagine Niri and Thancred would be too! So a road trip would be perfect for them!

They turn the radio on and take turns to sing, Illya and Alphinaud only does at the prodding and encouragement from Niri and Thancred, and they eventually become comfortable enough to actually get really into it.

Alphinaud is more uptight and worried when they aren’t on schedule or if their car breaks down unexpectedly, but Niri and Thancred would assure him that it’s part of the experience. lllya is happy enough with whatever happens because she has fun with her friends no matter what they’re doing.

 When they arrive to a new town and stop for the night, they walk through the town and explore and definitely buy souvenirs 

Thancred gets into a fight with a thug while they stop by a petrol station to get gas and Alphinaud and Illya are about to intervene when Niri elbows his side and promptly breaks up the argument with a simple threatening smile.

Illya is definitely someone who overprepares for trips though, so like when Niri gets a tiny rash on her thigh, Illya pulls out a huge bag full of medical supplies and lotion and Niri is very impressed. She asks Illya if she can have some extra dental floss which she tosses at Thancred =3c

At night, they sometimes stop the car by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, lay a blanket down on the hood of the car and just star gaze while eating donuts =3

♡ Angelique/G'raha

OHhhhh these four??? DEFINITELY a library / coffee date!! 

It’ll be especially cute when it’s in the middle of winter, and both ships share scarves while on their way to the date!!

Their dynamic would probably be one of like.. two long married couples just chilling because these four definitely deserve the break ;w;

If we’re talking about pre-hibernation G’raha:

While waiting for their food and drinks at the coffee shop, G’raha is the first to be the most talkative, asking Illya and Alphinaud what they’ve been up to and even teasing them.

Seeing Illya flustered, Angelique would probably tell him to knock it off.

Knowing G’raha meant no harm though, Alphinaud would try to banter back with his own set of questions. He eventually accidentally asks when Angelique and G’raha intend to marry and this just flusters everyone.

Queue Illya frantically apologizing for him “A-a-a-alphinaud that’s too forward!!”

G’raha just laughs nervously cause phew he thought Alphinaud was gonna blow his cover on the proposal he’s planned for months and isn’t quite ready yet.

The four could either pick out their own set of books and just sit by the fireplace quietly reading, or I could see them holding a little reading session. 

Alphinaud’s probably the most eloquent speaker and so he ends up narrating a lot, G’raha becomes surprisingly quiet when listening to the storytelling session.

Date ends once it starts to become dark and the two ships part ways to go for their separate dinner dates.

How about a fancy candlelit dinner and ballroom date hosted by a pair of fancy, rich elf boys in suits =3

Kiya definitely picks out a dress for Illya before the date. The poor girl isn’t experienced with putting together her own wardrobe for occasions like this. Kiya dresses herself in a really elegant black gown while she picks out a dainty white cocktail dress for Illya.

The boys are in blue suits, because.. of course they are.. They’re both in their element, though Aymeric seems to be a lot more experienced in holding himself in such formal situations.

Alphinaud probably has to ask Kiya beforehand to hide the prices of the food from Illya because she’ll faint and probably refuse to eat if she knew just how expensive everything was.

Illya is also extremely awkward at first, having been raised a peasant and practically having no exposure with such luxuries.

Aymeric is exceptional at breaking the ice however, and eventually the four of them relax enough to be able to have a casual conversation and even laugh at the table.

Aymeric and Alphinaud argue for almost fifteen whole minutes over who should pay for the bill - of course both offering to pay for everything as thanks for the wonderful dinner. Kiya has to tell them to just settle with paying for their own meals instead of trying to be overly generous.

They dance at the ballroom afterwards. Kiya and Aymeric are almost naturals in the ballroom and their elegance steals the limelight. Helps that Aymeric is a huge figure in Ishgard and has a ton of female admirers, all of whom are likely jealous of Kiya. Illya is awkward, as usual, but is content with learning how to dance quietly with Alphinaud away from the center of the room.

SHOPPING MALL DATE BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS????

This is more like Laurelis giving Illya a full makeover while Haurchefant reminds her that there’s clothes for her too and Alphinaud shows his approval to pretty much anything Illya wears.

Laurelis: “ Oh! This dress looks so cute on you!! Now try this!! And wear it with these heels while you do!! Oh oh! And afterwards, try this!” 

Illya: “The boys are waiting for us-”

Haurchefant does the shopping for Laurelis really, though shows a lot more restrain. And you bet the few times that Laurelis actually bothers to pick something out for herself, he isn’t going to let her return back on the shelf.

I imagine Haurchefant is one of those types of guys who doesn’t actually mind getting dragged along on shopping sprees, he enjoys it quite a lot in fact since he can pick out his own clothes which he doesn’t have much time to do often.

Alphinaud wonders why he’s here.

They finally take a break from raiding all the clothing stores to eat at a family restaurant and Illya orders a plate of hot wings nobody wants to share with her. Haurchefant attempts but politely states he has to make a quick bathroom break after eating one.

Laurelis takes pictures of everybody’s food. Everybody’s. Even Alphinaud’s totally ordinary looking cup of latte doesn’t escape her instagram story.

Unbeknownst to the girls, while they are distracted with the clothes, the boys scheme behind their backs on what gifts they can buy to surprise their girls. 

Haurchefant reminds Alphinaud that Illya would probably not approve if he bought that diamond rose bouquet they saw in a jewelry store. He buys it anyway.

The only time Illya and Alphinaud spend more time in a store and are the ones to drag Laurelis and Haurchefant along with them is the book store.

YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THE POWER OF FLUFF CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. THEY GO ON A JAPANESE DOMAN FESTIVAL DATE.

A little context on their relationship dynamic before that tho:

So obviously Illya and Alphinaud would both have their reservations on Meeps dating Asahi, especially after what Asahi did. Alphinaud’s more likely to be open about his reservations and verbally acknowledges that he just doesn’t trust Asahi. Illya feels the same way, but she’s a lot more open about asking Meeps about her feelings, and after hearing Meeps assure them that she’ll keep a good eye on Asahi, she’s a lot less resistant to letting Asahi join their clique, even if she is still a little hesitant. After all, she trusts that Meeps is strong enough to keep Asahi in check, and she’d definitely be the first person to go after him if he does turn his back on them. Alphinaud eventually relaxes about the idea, but only after much assurance from both Meeps and Illya.

Now for date headcanons:

Asahi doesn’t care much for the summer festival coming up since he’s long thrown away his Doman origins and he’s attended the festival himself as a kid way too many times to be excited anymore.. But Meeps is insistent on him bringing her, Illya and Alphinaud on a double date.

Illya and Alphinaud too, not being as familiar with Doman culture are excited to attend the festival and Asahi reluctantly agrees.

He gives them a tour around the stalls, notably jaded when he talks about the silly kid games like catching koi fish or shooting wooden guns to knock down tin cans, but when he sees how excited Meeps is, he lightens up slowly throughout the night.

Meeps and Illya try a TON of food, and you bet Meeps will put the canned bread stall out of their business. 

Alphinaud reluctantly asks Asahi for an explanation on some of the origins of the festival games / foods and is genuinely surprised when Asahi seems very knowledgeable about the culture, even if he acts like he doesn’t care about it anymore.

Illya tries one of the carnival games, but it’s rigged and she doesn’t get the plush toy prize she had her eye on, causing the other three to berate the stall owner until he relents and gives Illya a consolation prize.

Halfway through the night, Meeps and Asahi get separated from Illya and Alphinaud. Alphinaud fears the worse and the two begin searching everywhere for them, thinking Asahi may have struck and taken Meeps against her will.

They find Meeps and Asahi on a hill, where they’d just set down a mat and they explained they just left to find a good spot to catch the fireworks and were just about to head back to look for Illya and Alphinaud.

The fireworks show ends their date off and Asahi reluctantly admits to having fun.

❤️ Shuri x Estinien double-date with Illya and Alphy! (Sorry, my emojis only has this heart ;-;)

Illya and Alphinaud don’t take too well to cold weather but... Ski trip date!!

While Illya and Alphinaud don’t tend to like cold weather as much as the other two, they don’t mind the idea of a trip to a ski resort up on a mountain since they know Shuri is fond of winter. Plus! It’ll be a good learning experience for them who both have never learnt to ski before

Alphinaud really does not like the ski lift, but the two girls are just excited to be able to see the view of the landscape.

Shuri is a natural on skis. She may be a little wobbly at first, but she quickly gets a hang of how to ski down a course on her own due in part to her great sense of balance. 

Estinien also picks up how to ski almost instantly. He acts like it’s child’s play and is overall a bit of a meanie who teases Illya and Alphinaud when he sees them struggling.

Shuri flicks his forehead probably ;w; Then she proceeds to help Illya andignorealphinaud. 

Illya takes to the skis a lot quicker than her boy does, especially with Shuri’s help and she eventually helps Alphinaud by holding his hand and helping him find his balance while Shuri and Estinien race each other down courses

They retreat inside to get hot chocolate when it starts snowing a little too hard and becomes dark, Shuri and Illya have a little girl talk where Shuri asks Illya if Alphinaud’s treated her well while Estinien is predictably silent and Alphinaud has to prod a conversation out of him constantly.

The four of them take a commemorative photo and they all keep the photo on them, even Estinien, don’t let him tell you otherwise.
