Morris “Shug” Denton perches atop the fragile Carroll County Meteorite in 1922, two years before it collapsed in its entirety, shattering into a million motes of pure evil, which flitted about the valley like butterflies of pure evil.
Before the shattering, young Denton would trek to the meteorite almost daily to commune telepathically with a grotesque entity who lived light years away in an unreachable hip-pocket universe and whom Denton knew only as Travis, though his full name was later revealed to be Travis Showalter.
Though they never met in person, years after Denton’s untimely death Showalter toured the former site of the crashed meteorite, where he was reported to have cried but a single, albeit enormous, tear, a tear so big as to have filled a Double Gulp, which, at 64 oz., was twice the size of 7-Eleven’s more famous Big Gulp.
Travis would go on to say that the closeness of his bond with Denton had been misinterpreted by the press, and that he was not in fact “that way,” and would sue anyone who said otherwise.
