Art Without Appreciation.

If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? 

That's what I found so striking about this piece. I find it brilliant when an artist eliminates any frill and opts of a truth that causes an audience to think. 

How is this piece destroyed when my eyes aren't their to behold it. Why is it when I return that the when we suddenly comes back to life?

An often forgotten concept is how much our perception plays a roll in the life of an art piece. Art expects interaction and understanding. It expects you to think a just a bit deeper than before the piece was seen. 

  Question everything. Trust your analysis.

(Im the person who asked that 5 part question) I really dont mean to say that trans people should be referred to as what gender they were born as, I was just confused as to why people seem to be so upset that male & female are gendered words just like body parts are gendered. I dont believe that just cause you have a penis you are a male, but a penis IS a male body part. Im really honestly trying not to be offensive & Im sorry if I come off that way but Im confused & sorry about being an asshole

The tone of your email just seemed on the edge of snarky and bitchy, and because I get so much nasty email I made the assumption that if it seems like it’s hating on me, it probably is. But since you’re not an asshole, you took my suspicions with stride and are back for some more clarification, which is very awesome. So I absolutely take it back <3

Now, I see where your trouble is with this and I THINK I can help you.

Here you are practicing Orwellian-style “double-think”, wherein you believe two contradictory things at once. If the penis IS a male body part, then anyone who has a penis is a male. You cannot have the penis as a “male” body part without insisting that all bodies with penises as male. But that simply isn’t true because, as I explained before:

"the notions of “female” and “male” are entirely made up. YES there are different chromosomes aligned with particular biological presentations. But that they are necessarily “female” or “male” or whatever, well that’s entirely a social construct, not even a bit “natural” as these cissexist assumptions imply." (x)

Things Middle Class White Men Say

So... today I was talking to a couple of middle class white dudes, and one said:

MCWD1: I can admire 1984, but I don't think it's that relevant anymore.

MCWD2: ???

Me: ???

MCWD1: Well, I can see what it was going for, but now that we are in what was once thought to be the future, I mean... Like, I can get any job I want - no career is barred from us if we want it.

Me: Wow. Just. Wow. I can't imagine anyone but a middle class white man saying that. It's so patently not true for anyone else. And I say this aware of my privilege as only just below the top of the 'having it pretty good' scale.

MCWD2: *looks uncomfortable*

MCWD1: Well! I needed another drink anyway!

I said nothing about agreeing with that post or saying whites are uniquely guilty of colonialism. Your insecurity and ignorance makes you believe I did. I didn't confuse white and Caucasian. There are white Arabs, or did I just make that up? If your blog is going to be about race at least know something about race. Btw, Zimmerman is white. 10/10 people would think he's white had he walked past them on the street and so would you.

ThousandYearsBunny bombarded me with messages both in asks and reblogs, demanding I define what a white person is. As if we don't exist. and it's just some crazy abstraction she's never heard of. But it's weird because she seems to know what white people are when she wants to bitch about us: It's amazing how these people know what white people are when they want to bitch about us and say everything's our fault, and they know what a white person is when they say they don't want to see one on their dashboard. But then when someone like me talks about being white they suddenly make out like they have no idea what a white person even is and it's this really complicated concept for them. Aren't anti-whites amazing. It's like magic forgetfulness! They don't know what white people are, but they know white people are keeping them down.
