25: What was your greatest musical discovery?
oh man. that is a tricky one! i'm lucky enough to work with some pretty incredible artists and it's hard to play favourites but i'm going to try. it's an equal tie between the rubens and alpine i think. (click on their names to listen to each of their incredible debut releases)
i think i love these bands as people just as much as i love them for the masterpieces they create. working with them hardly feels like working (please don't tell my boss) and more like hanging with old friends. they are so passionate about what they do and they do it well. they create music that is interesting and intricate and unlike anything else.
the rubens boys have helped me parallel park the monster that is our promo car and i have discussed board games and nail art over cups of tea with alpine so we're basically best friends forever right?
honourable mentions for new releases include: alt-J, alabama shakes, frank ocean, father john misty (was that this year?)
i've also been re-embracing some classing motown and one hit wonders from the early 2000s but i don't know if they count?
27: What did you want and not get?
to find a logical way to live in england and not miss my job/friends/family terribly. someone who makes me not want to be single anymore. longer hair. a better sleeping schedule. the playstation game 'spyro the dragon' and one of the best olsen twin xmas movies 'to grandmother's house we go' on dvd.
