I was just reading you dougjay thoughts and I love them so much! I actually live in Waterloo so I can give a little bit of insight about it. Idk about during the blackberry time, but currently it’s kinda walkable but not everywhere. Like it would depend on where Jay would live, and I’m imagining him living near that bank that Jim went to, if he did he could likely walk from his place to a video store plus there’s a good amount of walkable things there, but not to the blackberry building since that is about an hour and a half walk. So yes Doug would definitely have to give him rides which I find really sweet!

I really like the idea of Jay walking, so Im so happy that I now have an expert opinion on this ,,,,, I tried to track down where the real original 90s RIM building was, but I couldnt find it rip. I might try finding the location that they filmed at instead. Jay living somewhere around King and Erb is absolutely canon to me now

Doug drives a 1989 Honda Civic. (not sure if they show the exterior of Doug’s car, ill have to rewatch and look for it but this is a guess based on the interior.) Even after Blackberry takes off, he just repairs it consistently instead of buying a newer car. When he finally does have to get a new car, he installs a cassette deck into the dash
Jay mostly walks wherever he goes. He works from home making jingles and commercial music. He also writes his own songs and plays gigs around town sometimes. Really just an assortment of random stuff, but as long as he’s making music he’s happy. Jay doesn’t like driving, so he asks Doug to drive him anywhere far even though Doug trusts Jay enough to drive his car.
